About the role:

Paysend is seeking a dynamic Growth Manager to spearhead transformative initiatives in Romania, one of Europe’s most vibrant remittance markets. You’ll drive transaction volume, user acquisition, and brand recognition by optimizing marketing campaigns, managing a grassroots ambassador network, and strengthening partner relationships. What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Drive Growth Metrics: 

  • Deliver ambitious targets, including growth in send volume, Monthly Active Users (MAU), and average transaction size for Romania.
  • Use tools like Amplitude to analyze user funnels, reduce friction points, and boost conversion rates across the remittance journey.

Community Ambassadors Program: 

  • Build and oversee a network of 1-2 ambassadors per major sending country within the first year, targeting diaspora groups and offline communities.
  • Define clear KPIs (e.g., new user referrals, event attendance), provide ongoing training, and assess ambassador performance quarterly to maximize advocacy.

Partnership Management: 

  • Negotiate with banks, payment processors, and fintechs to enhance service reach, secure better terms, and lower transaction costs, aiming for at least two new partnerships annually.
  • Launch co-branded marketing efforts with partners to amplify customer acquisition and elevate Paysend’s brand presence.

Srategic Marketing Initiatives: 

  • Execute CPA-based acquisition campaigns with cooperation with CPA agencies.
  • Diaspora-focused Social media groups in sending countries to attract senders in Romania with help of social media agencies.
  • Develop localized campaigns tailored to cultural and economic contexts (e.g., Romanian expats in Italy), driving sign-ups and awareness with help of social media agencies.
  • Manage a growth marketing budget, optimizing spend for cost-efficient growth and measurable ROI.

Research: 

    • Explore integrations with local payment systems and digital wallets to streamline the user experience.
    • Monitor competitor offerings (e.g., Wise, Remitly, etc) and propose differentiating strategies to maintain a competitive edge

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

    • Report to the Regional Growth Lead and work with a small local team to align strategies with business goals.
    • Provide monthly market insights to the product team, advocating for regional adaptations (e.g., multi-currency support), and ensure compliance with EU standards.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:

  • Proven Experience: 5+ years in growth, marketing, or business development within remittances. Remittance experience is a MUST.
  • Market Expertise: Deep knowledge of remittance flows and diaspora networks (e.g., Romania) and familiarity with local payment preferences.
  • Analytical Thinking: Proficiency with data tools and a history of optimizing campaigns through data-driven decisions.
  • Negotiation & Partnerships: Proven ability to secure favorable terms and scale partnerships with financial or tech providers.
  • Community Engagement: Experience managing ambassador (agent) programs or engaging diaspora communities, both online and offline, is a big plus.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of EU payment regulations and local compliance standards is a plus.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (required); proficiency in Romanian.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
