About The Role
CBRE is looking to hire a Sustainability Consultant to join our Americas Sustainability Consulting team as a technical resource. The primary focus of this position will be third-party certification management with capacity for expansion across the ESG landscape, decarbonization, and other real estate driven sustainability initiatives. The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of project work related to sustainability and wellness rating systems and -building certifications projects. We are seeking highly qualified candidates from all over the country, as this position will be remote. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated and accountable individual, capable of working independently.
The ideal Candidate should have solid experience in ESG, advisory and certification, Whole Life Carbon and Circular Economy, Health & Wellbeing, and Environmental Impact Assessments. They should be capable of developing and implementing ESG Strategies, creating tailored sustainability frameworks for asset application, and delivering certification and health and wellbeing services.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct audits and facilitate building certification projects (BREEAM, LEED, WELL)
- Evaluate, track, and report the status of LEED, WELL, and other third-party certification projects from concept through construction and manage documentation, including reviewer comments. Ensure that all tasks are completed per the project schedule and plan, allowing for quality control and feedback to be incorporated into the process
- Communicate sustainability requirements and obligations to other team members, both internal and external. Interface directly with clients to report ongoing project status and next steps.
- Manage multiple projects independently, under the guidance of senior teammates; and support senior teammates on complex projects.
- Interrogate large internal or external databases, such as Measurabl, to collate data sets for use in key client reports, e.g., annual and quarterly ESG reports, responding to investor queries, bespoke KPI progress reports.
- Create the initial draft of these reports specifically-providing a narrative summary of key actions and findings, verifying the accuracy and quality of data used, and ensuring that the document meets all necessary reporting requirements, e.g., client branding.
- Identify strategies and solutions for clients that improve the performance and sustainability of the built environment and develop project-appropriate sustainability and/or health and wellbeing strategies.
- Manage and analyze environmental performance data including energy, water, and waste utility consumption and costs; benchmark performance; and monitor and interpret performance trends.
- Independently manage your time to stay on track with billable activities within project budgets, time allocations, and prioritization.
- Participate in monthly invoicing and financial projections for all project-related work.
- Exercise judgment and self-prioritize assignments daily, identifying and communicating issues before they become problems.
- Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Desire and ability to integrate CBRE initiatives, services, products, and research into cohesive solutions that allow clients to materially advance their sustainability goals.

- BA/BS in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field
- Experience working as a sustainability consultant, or similar experience with ESG/sustainability reporting standards, frameworks and ratings and rankings such Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).
- 5-8+ years professional experience managing green and wellness building certification projects
- Understanding of architectural working drawings and specifications, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems is required
- Familiarity with the construction process, design process and project management
- Successfully managed workflow assignments up to a senior teammate
- LEED AP with a specialty designation required
- WELL AP strongly preferred
- BREEAM AP and/or BREEAM Assessor license is preferred

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the this position is $80,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $90,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
