What We Can Achieve Together

The communications specialist, develops, coordinates and implements communication, marketing and media strategy that facilitates comprehension, adoption and advancement of the organization’s goals and objectives in Gran Chaco. This role critically helps develop the Gran Chaco program influence, serving as a bridge among staff and also externally. The scope includes supporting the communications and marketing strategy for Argentina and Latin-America. Serving as a focal point for Gran Chaco needs, such as in the planning and execution to help grow reach and engagement for the Gran Chaco program; supporting TNC Argentina spokespeople with building their own social media presence; building and optimising content with the aim of growing traffic to TNC’s website, nature.org; and working across teams to help support the growth of our audiences.

The preferred location for this position is in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (City of Buenos Aires and immediate surroundings) or in one of Argentina’s Gran Chaco provinces (Catamarca, Chaco, Córdoba, Corrientes, Formosa, Jujuy, La Rioja, Salta, San Juan, San Luis, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán). This position is not eligible for international relocation or immigration assistance. The position involves regular domestic travel and may include international travel.

Responsibilities & Scope

The communications specialist of Gran Chaco specifically will:

  • Designs and implements a marketing & communications strategy which supports the Gran Chaco team, ensuring coherent and clear messaging, while aligned with local and regional goals.
  • Plan, implement and oversee Gran Chaco marketing and communications strategy across multiple channels, which target the right audiences to grow the awareness of the program in Argentina.
  • Ensure strategies are in place to reach target audiences and optimize audience journeys and content for channels of TNC Argentina, regional and global TNC channels.
  • Create data-driven documents and presentations to enhance the communication of complex information to decision-makers and diverse audiences (both interna and external audiences).
  • Help to maintain quality content for TNC Argentina’s website. Proactively improve user experience and engagement. Focus on social media planning to connect with target audiences.
  • Develop written materials such as joint statements and event briefs. Publish press releases and interviews. Prepare talking points, op-eds, and presentations for various audiences, and handling of issues reputational and crisis management.
  • Enhance program visibility and engagement through effective communication initiatives with partners from various sectors.
  • Write and produce a variety of content to engage internal and external audiences. Increase engagement and awareness of TNC Argentina’s and Gran Chaco mission and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing and implementing media strategies and measuring results.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading messages for targeted audiences.
  • Experience cultivating and managing client relationships.
  • Experience developing media relations networks.
  • Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects
  • Both written and oral command of the English and Spanish languages.
  • Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills in both languages.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience developing, implementing and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategies.
  • Experience preparing and managing a budget.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline.
  • Experience organizing events to promote the conservation work.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience
