Job description

Director, Product Development, Sourcing, and Production


Key Responsibilities

Product Development, Sourcing and Production Strategy

  • Develop and implement the New Product Category Strategy to expand Brand ID's offerings in the marketplace.
  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap to expand Brand ID's sourcing footprint across Southeast Asia, and Central America.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to mitigate risk, fill performance gaps, and optimize costs.
  • Oversee execution of key sourcing initiatives, including Vietnam expansion and diversification of supply sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product development, sourcing, and production with business objectives and market demands.


Supplier Management and GP Optimization

  • Evaluate current suppliers based on lead time, margin, capacity, quality control results, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and lead cost-reduction initiatives, including price negotiations and RFQ processes for complex sourcing decisions.
  • Conduct annual factory visits to assess capabilities, build relationships, and ensure adherence to quality and compliance standards.
  • Manage supplier contracts, ensuring alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct the Large Order Pricing Review and Negotiation process.


Production Planning & Capacity Management

  • Oversee global production planning to ensure alignment with sales forecasts and customer demand.
  • Partner with suppliers to enhance production efficiency and create transparency in the supply chain.
  • Manage production timelines to ensure on-time delivery and proactively address potential bottlenecks.
  • Monitor supplier capacity planning and performance to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Quality Control & Process Improvement

  • Establish and enforce quality standards across all supplier factories to meet Brand ID’s expectations.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance supplier quality assurance processes and reduce defects or reworks.
  • Analyze production and sourcing metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reductions.
  • Implement best practices in sourcing and production workflows to streamline operations.


Compliance Management

  • Oversee all aspects of social and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to industry and customer standards.
  • Lead the compliance team, providing training and guidance on social compliance and Restricted Substances List (RSL) policies.
  • Develop and maintain compliance processes, including Sedex membership and factory audits.
  • Respond to customer compliance inquiries and collaborate with internal teams to address compliance risks.


Cross-Functional Leadership & Strategic Initiatives

  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings between sourcing, production, sales, and product development teams to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Oversee new product category sourcing strategy to support company growth and innovation.
  • Lead the execution of strategic initiatives that enhance the supply chain, improve product offerings, and strengthen supplier partnerships.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sourcing, production, and compliance processes to support company goals.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 8+ years of global sourcing, production, or supply chain experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in product development, supplier management, contract negotiations, and cost reduction strategies.
  • Strong understanding of apparel trims, packaging, and production workflows.
  • Expertise in compliance management, including social and RSL standards.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Fluency in English required.
