Job description

We are hiring a new Account Manager to manage our Individual Disability Insurance (IDI) business and client relationships. This is a role critical to client and broader business level functions. The role will work directly with clients, insurance carriers and vendor partners. There will be regular partnership with our Client Directors and the team’s Managing Director.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage a block of assigned clients, specifically clients that have IDI plans.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with assigned clients and be the primary contact for all questions/concerns from the client. Provide back up support for others.
  • Advocate client needs with insurance carriers as appropriate.
  • Plan, organize and execute meetings on customer topics including renewals, new program implementations and/or enrollments, or other special projects as needed.
  • Main point of contact for customer service to individual policy holders. Will include answering calls, emails and varied service requests.
  • Work directly with clients and insurance carriers to plan and execute annual renewal and service events, including renewals, enrollment and benefit increase events.
  • Set expectations for all parties.
  • Create specific communication pieces as necessary.
  • Manage all aspects of enrollment for voluntary plans.
  • Develop enrollment and other communication pieces as needed.
  • Manage enrollment material production where necessary.
  • Application screening, follow up and submission to carrier.
  • Policy screening, audit, follow up and delivery.
  • Data management responsibilities for rate files, plan design information, customer tracking system, etc.


Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Licensed Life and Health Producer or willing to get licensed.
  • Expertise in all facets of multi-life individual disability insurance plans including product knowledge, premium and billing, policy issue, enrollment, carrier systems, etc.
  • Strong project management skills. Proven track record working with customers and delivering exceptional results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver.
  • Advanced understanding and working experience with Excel. Ability to organize and sort data, run queries and use excel to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Strong technology skills. Ability to work in Microsoft environment.
  • Ability to travel when necessary – to clients or for Risk Strategies events. Anticipate 5 to 6 trips per year.


At Risk Strategies Company, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off and paid holidays for eligible employees. The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $84,200 - $150,000 annually. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
