Join Queensland Building and Construction Commission as a Senior Technical Officer in the Internal Review Unit, where you'll provide expert guidance and conduct independent reviews of administrative decisions with a focus on technical elements. This role offers the opportunity to improve policies and processes, communicate outcomes effectively, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have the option to engage in a work from home arrangement that suits the Division under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement.
Key Outcomes And Accountabilities
Provide leadership and mentoring to the Commission by ensuring the appropriate interpretation and application of the National Construction Code, Australian Standards and QBCC policies and procedures by the organisation's decision makers.
Provide technical advice and reports to review decision makers to support administrative review decisions.
Manage a case load of technical advices including conducting gathering further information or evidence to assist in the review, preparing inspection reports and provide technical advice to other members of the review team.
Interpret and apply the requirements of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991, Queensland Building and Construction Commission Regulation 2003, Insurance Policy Conditions, Building Act 1975, National Construction Code, Australian Standards and other legislation and policies.

Apply contemporary building standards, practices, legislation and codes within the construction industry, including demonstrated ability to supervise the performance of all building work
Manage multiple technical advice requests within tight timeframes
Lead in a constructive and collaborative way, particularly when dealing with owners and builders during a site inspection, by applying strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Effectively communicate technical advice in written technical reports
Effectively communicate technical advice verbally, to assist staff and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
