Key responsibilities:

  • Administer speech and language evaluations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients with speech problems and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses and monitor disease progression.
  • Provide speech and language services, instruct clients in therapeutic exercises, and ensure compliance with standards and protocols.
  • Interact with various stakeholders including providers and case managers, and may supervise assistants and provide ongoing education to peers.

Provide ST services within MN, IA, SD and ND. This position comes with premium compensation, intentional placements supporting full-time and a comprehensive benefits package. This position will be expected to travel 100% of the time.

Internal Traveler will be utilized in-person in one of our core states (SD,ND,NE,CO,IA and MN) at a location(s) determined to have the highest need by the directors. Variety of settings including skilled/rehab, home health, outpatient, and mobility outpatient with the flexibility in scheduled hours. There will be regular pay and a weekly stipend. All buildings are on the same EMR and Good Sam sites. You will accrue PTO the same as our full-time staff and have holiday pay. This is a great way to see some local places in the Midwest and meet our staff that are glad to have extra support!

Summary

Administers speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assesses clients/patients/residents with various speech, language, cognitive or swallowing problems and develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses.

Job Description

Provides speech and language services to clients/patients/residents; monitors disease progression and adjusts treatments accordingly. Instructs clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises; provides consultation for clients/patients/residents working through speech and language treatment processes. Ensures all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met.

May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnosis and disorders. Will demonstrate documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements. Demonstrates level of treatment associated with their specialty provided to their clients/patients/residents. Follows and adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organization.

Exhibits flexibility with acceptance of variable work schedules/assignments. Participates in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health. Will be interacting with individuals outside of the department including but not limited to: providers, case managers, third party payers, public organizations, etc. May be asked to supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services. Will be expected to provide ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by the department leadership. Performs other related duties as requested by manager.

Based on assigned area, work may focus on those receiving intervention in the post-acute, long term care and home health care environments when applicable.

Qualifications

Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.



Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech-Language Pathologist. When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred by GSS Facilities): Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). When applicable, may require valid driver's license. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
