We are hiring for a Director of Business Development to join our dynamic team! This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic thinker and results-driven professional who is passionate about driving growth and building strong relationships.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Business Development will play a crucial role in driving transformative growth and margin enhancement through strategic inorganic investments. This position is instrumental in executing Cencora's strategic direction by identifying and capitalizing on high-value acquisition and partnership opportunities within Cencora’s target markets. The Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership to leverage mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as key growth enablers. The incumbent will proactively source and cultivate potential targets, develop compelling strategic investment theses, and oversee comprehensive due diligence processes to ensure successful execution of business development initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development leadership

  • Partner with senior leadership team to develop and execute a comprehensive inorganic (M&A, partnerships, etc.) strategy for Cencora’s targets markets that advances the overall Enterprise and business unit strategy into execution.
  • Conduct specialized market work that builds on end-market strategies developed by the Strategic Development group. 

Deal Sourcing, Evaluation, and Execution

  • Build proactive funnel of targets and drive comprehensive cultivation plan to create an advantaged actionability
  • Develop comprehensive deal thesis that builds on end-market strategic knowledge base through market work and partners with business team to develop a proprietary view on value creation
  • Partner with Corporate Development on ROIC model development and develop grounded assumptions to value drivers
  • Successfully navigate deal stage gate process to drive deal disposition

Deal Diligence and Execution

  • Drive cross-functional diligence streams to fully assess asset to identify any impact to overall valuation
  • Engage necessary subject matter experts to provide deal specific assessments to drive conviction
  • Identify key risk areas and develop proposed integration action plan


 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Normally requires 8+ years of consulting, investment banking, or business leadership experience with inorganic activity
  • Significant experience in Healthcare and MedTech
  • MBA and Technical degree preferred

  • Ability to drive deal origination and cultivation efforts by identifying and engaging potential acquisition targets, ensuring alignment with business goals and market opportunities
  • Ability to think strategically, collaborate, and lead development of deal theses
  • Advanced experience in due diligence processes for potential acquisitions, ensuring all financial, operational, and strategic considerations are meticulously evaluated.
  • Maintain high cross-functional awareness and leadership, fostering collaboration and alignment across various departments to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Ability to aggregate a multitude of information and present it in a digestible format for various audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of industry trends that can be leveraged for strategic insights and decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to various audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
