Job Description
The candidate will assume daily responsibility for management of the SP accounts, inclusive of national and retail chains and long-term care accounts, to address contracting, product fulfillment, maintain the evolving SP channel strategy for promoted and pipeline products. The individual will be responsible for managing all aspects of the customer’s business from tracking the supply chain, contract compliance, data integrity and communicating fulfillment performance to relevant stakeholders. The individual will report into the Sr. Director of and Corporate Accounts, and work closely with Managed Markets, Field Sales, Field Reimbursement Mangers, Patient Services and Commercial Operations and Analytics.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Alkermes SP team’s implementation of distribution and services contracting with assigned customers to achieve maximum market penetration of Alkermes products, contract compliance and timely product fulfillment. Classes of trade include primarily specialty pharmacies and other emerging accounts
- Develop relationships with new specialty pharmacies, psychiatric long-term care (LTC) and retail chains to understand capabilities. Build awareness of Alkermes products and fulfillment requirements with assigned customers. Maintain understanding of specialty pharmacy fulfillment processes and pharmacy contractual relationships with payers
- Analyze specialty pharmacy fulfillment performance and reroutes for specific payers. Recommend pharmacies that can provide the highest fulfillment performance for specific payers
- Ensure adequate data flows and data integrity between Alkermes analytics and contracted pharmacy entities to ensure accurate information and timeliness
- Develop reports based upon available data for internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree, PharmD, or MBA preferred
- 12+ year of professional experience
- Driver's license must be in good standing
- Must be able to demonstrate or secure appropriate credentialing, as may be required by healthcare providers for physical access to their facilities
Preferred Skill and Knowledge Qualifications:
- 10+ years of contracting, sales, and distribution & supply chain management experience in a pharmaceutical / biotech company
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to effectively analyze data to determine trends and inform strategy
- Understanding of the current healthcare landscape, compliant manufacturer practices surrounding promotion, product distribution, and product fulfillment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
- Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong customer relationship, analytical, strategic influencing skills and contract creation / negotiation
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Experience with specialty injectables preferred
- Prior experience working with national and regional specialty pharmacies
- Existing relationships with national SPs preferred (e.g., CVS, Optum, Walgreens, Genoa)
- Strong understanding of SP metrics and working with a HUB team (ie: Time to fill, fulfillment rate)
- Ability to manage 50% domestic travel
