Job Description
This is a full-time remote position that can be located anywhere in the U.S.
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse with certified coding expertise to join our Intellectual Property team. The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of clinical knowledge, coding proficiency, and an understanding of intellectual property concepts. This role will involve analyzing complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Assist in patent applications related to medical bill review evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, analyze, and update existing coding edits.
Provide clinical expertise in the development and protection of medical bill review intellectual property.
Assist in drafting and reviewing patent applications for medical bill review audit.
Collaborate with attorneys, inventors, and other team members on IP strategy and protection.
Participate in pending and patentability assessments for medical bill review inventions.
Contribute to the preparation of technical documents and reports.
Stay current with advancements in medical technology.
Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred
Current certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or CCS-P (AAPC or AIHMA)
Minimum 2+ year’s experience using and applying the codes and rules of ICD-10-CM (all three volumes), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and HCPCS Level II
Minimum 2+ year’s experience in health insurance, workers’ compensation and/or the handling of automobile medical claims and billing is preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. 3+ years’ experience using EXCEL, Word experience required
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface with personnel at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Orthopedic clinical experience
Familiarity with intellectual property concepts and patent processes
Additional certifications in specialized areas of nursing or healthcare
Knowledge of regulatory requirements in healthcare.
