Job Description

Join our team and work on the Graphical Forecast Editor (GFE), the software meteorologists use to prepare and issue forecasts.

Interesting, meaningful work that impacts the whole Australian community.

We use python, Qt and numpy on Linux and work closely with meteorologists to improve the accuracy, usefulness and timeliness of forecasts.

  • Australian Citizenship
  • A degree or diploma of an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties; OR other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties.
  • The successful applicant may be required to obtain, and maintain, a Baseline security clearance.
  • Extensive software engineering experience
  • experience developing Python applications in a Linux environment suitable for 24/7 operational use. Experience with numpy, scipy, PyQt, netCDF, hdf5, GRIB highly rated
  • Experience working with scientific concepts, data and requirements.
