Position Summary:

Strategic leadership of the Market Access function for the European region, supporting both the Neuromodulation and Cardiopulmonary business units.  The individual will be expected to act as a strategic business partner to commercial leaders through defense of our current reimbursement status as well as promoting opportunities for market development through improved reimbursement.  They will also identify opportunities to generate health economics/real world data evidence to illustrate the value of LIVANOVA solutions in key EU markets.  Additionally, the role will include direct management of in-country market access employees across the region, including UK, Germany and Italy (currently 4 FTE).  The successful individual will demonstrate their ability to combine strategic leadership with a willingness to operate tactically and lead project delivery with a ‘can-do’ attitude. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Represent the HEMAR function within the EU leadership, positioning the function as a strategic business partner to the commercial team
  • Collaborate with commercial colleagues to identify and assess Market Access opportunities and risks across the EU markets, prioritizing them based on their commercial impact
  • Partner with the Global HEMAR team to advocate for EU-specific evidence needs in global evidence plans and explore together opportunities to generate regional health economic evidence
  • Develop and establish comprehensive delivery plans for the regional Market Access strategy, including timelines, milestones and project governance, with regular updates to regional leadership
  • Provide line management for in-country market access teams across the region, ensuring alignment of well-defined deliverables with country level commercial teams
  • Drive team development including resource planning, justification for additional in-market hires and the creation of personal development plans for individual team members
  • Oversee Health Economics/Market Access training across the EU markets, including reimbursement coding and communication of health economic studies
  • Manage relationships with external vendors with expertise in reimbursement/market access where LIVANOVA does not have in-market specialists
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Global HEMAR team through active participation in the leadership activities and cross-regional collaboration with colleagues in other regions.

Skills and Experience:

  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant field and/or relevant applied experience to illustrate a deep understanding of health economics, market access and reimbursement ideally in the medical device sector
  • 5+ years’ experience in Market Access regional leadership role, with a strong track record of establishing close alignment with commercial functions
  • Experience of developing regional Market Access strategy with an implementation plan to govern delivery of agreed priorities
  • Experience of Market Access/Reimbursement requirements in key EU markets (e.g. UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain) is desirable
  • Line management experience in a Health Economics/Market Access function
  • Experience of working with medical device industry associations & relevant professional bodies
  • An established network of health economic stakeholders across the EU region would be beneficial
  • Experience of neuromodulation and/or cardiovascular disease is desirable but not essential

Education:

  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant field, such as health economics, public health, healthcare administration or epidemiology is desirable. 
  • Applied training in health economic methods is desirable.

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimate ~25% of time required for travel, primarily across the EU region to manage in-country Market Access specialists.
  • Occasional travel to US required to participate in leadership initiatives.
