 To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is currently seeking a Sales Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. Our Sales Engineer serves as a sales professional, specializing in understanding all technical aspects of our technical services within the Bus and Mechanical Engineering division and explaining them to potential customers and sales representatives. Their primary role is strategic account management and serving as the strategic liaison between outside and inside sales representatives, the business development team, the Bus Division, and the Mechanical Engineering team to create high-end applications and drive revenue growth goals.

Preferred Locations: Remote, anywhere in the U.S. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic account management, including pre-sales and post-sales support.
  • Follow up with legacy customers and vendors to identify opportunities and expand network, including but not limited to SAM site and government projects.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter regarding Bus and Mechanical Engineering capabilities as it relates to sales efforts, operations, and account queries.
  • Train sales representatives on bus services and mechanical engineering project capabilities.
  • Participate and support the outside sales team during sale requests, job walk throughs, lead generation, deal support and tracking, quotation preparation, cost analysis, and account management.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, proposals, and service agreements.
  • Interface with service, engineering, sourcing, quality, and leadership teams to expediently resolve issues or queries.
  • Prepare detailed technical proposals and presentations that outline how the company’s services can solve specific problems or improve efficiency.
  • Conduct customer site visits to assess customer needs, gather data, and provide hands-on technical support.
  • Collaborate with Service teams to improve service support by tracking issues, projects and associated reports and drive process improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies by providing technical input and market insights.
  • Ensure that all technical solutions comply with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Attend conferences, sales presentations, lead lunch & learn technical presentations, etc.
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and terms with customers, ensuring that technical requirements are clearly defined and agreed upon.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in a technical sales role; previous experience industrial or commercial power systems environment highly preferred.
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering, technical, or business field preferred or additional years of experience in related field.
  • Licensures and Certifications: NETA 2, 3, or 4 preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Previous experience training sales teams on product specifications and providing clients with technical product and services support.
  • Effective and clear verbal/written communications skills as well as negotiation, time management, organizational, project management, and presentation skills.
  • Presentation skills and ability to convey product value.
  • High-level organization skills and self-confidence to support sales efforts.
  • Exceptional ability to drive application innovation by analyzing consumer and competitor trends.  

Other Requirements

  • Up to 35% travel required throughout the continental USA.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Valid and current driver’s license and clean driving record.

Working Conditions

This job requires the ability to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, near low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery, in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, and confined spaces adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites. This role also requires prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and performing tasks that demand visual acuity for reading and typing.

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements include the ability to occasionally lift and carry office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds, the capability to move within the office to access files, office machinery, and meeting rooms, and fine motor skills for keyboard use. Proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is essential for effective communication and documentation. The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces. Good vision, including color vision and depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential.
