Position Summary:
We're seeking a visionary Lead Front-End Engineer to join our team at Bold Orange. In this strategic role, you'll define technical vision and architecture standards across multiple projects, lead the design of cross-project technical platforms, and provide technical oversight for complex client engagements. You'll evaluate new frameworks and approaches for organizational adoption while establishing best practices that ensure technical excellence.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional technical leader with deep expertise across the front-end landscape and a proven track record of designing enterprise-scale application architectures. You'll guide multiple project teams, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and drive innovation that creates meaningful business impact.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define technical vision and architecture standards across multiple projects
- Lead design of cross-project technical platforms and systems
- Evaluate new frameworks and approaches for organizational adoption
- Provide technical oversight across multiple complex client projects
- Develop technical roadmaps for practice areas or departments
- Establish security best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
- Champion and orchestrate adoption of modern development approaches (JAMstack, serverless, etc.)
- Lead technical discovery efforts and provide expert consultation to clients
- Guide multiple project teams on technical implementation
- Design enterprise-scale application architectures
- Establish patterns for headless implementations and multi-platform solutions
- Create technical standards that scale across multiple projects
- Evaluate and recommend architectural approaches for complex business needs
- Lead adoption of innovative middleware approaches
- Lead on-call programs and serve as final escalation point for major incidents
- Establish reliability standards and frameworks across multiple applications
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 8-12 years of progressive front-end development experience
- Experience designing cutting-edge front-end architectures
- Proven ability to evaluate and implement emerging web technologies with business impact
- Experience creating micro-frontend approaches for enterprise applications
- Established track record of designing patterns that scale across multiple teams and projects
- Ability to define front-end technology strategy aligned with business goals
- Experience architecting robust enterprise-level middle-tier solutions
- Knowledge of designing API gateways and service meshes for complex systems
- Ability to create content strategies that scale across multiple platforms
- Experience establishing standards for API security, performance, and reliability
- Strong leadership skills with experience guiding technical teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multiple JavaScript frameworks and their ecosystems
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with serverless computing and cloud platform services
- Track record of leading enterprise-level front-end implementations
- Deep understanding of performance optimization at scale
- Experience with content delivery networks and global site delivery
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD implementation
- Experience leading technical discovery and scoping complex projects
- Understanding of emerging web technologies and implementation patterns
- Experience mentoring Senior Engineers and developing technical leadership
- Experience with design systems and component libraries at scale
- Implementation experience with WordPress (WPEngine, Kinsta), Optimizely, Sitecore, AEM, and custom web development

- Media: Design scalable tracking architectures, establish standards for media/marketing technology
- New Business: Lead technical discovery for significant opportunities, architect proposed solutions
- Analytics: Design scalable analytics frameworks, establish best practices for data collection across projects
- Data Engineering: Design robust data exchange architectures between front-end and back-end systems, establish caching strategies
- Software Engineering: Lead cross-discipline technical initiatives, establish patterns for frontend-backend integration
