Responsible for the investigation, evaluation, disposition and settlement of the most complex and highest exposure claims with minimal supervision. This includes the investigation, determination and evaluation of coverage, liability and damages, and the setting of proper reserves. Administer all lines of liability claims pursuant to Company and State regulations to ensure claims are managed and settled in a timely and effective manner. Requires independent decision making and a high level of discretion and judgment in regards to the claim handling function.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze the claims exposure, to determine the proper course of action and to appropriately settle the claim, evaluating evidence by interpreting facts within applicable legal framework to determine liability and claim value.
Prompt, accurate investigation of liability claims, interviewing all relevant parties to determine the facts and to establish liability; handled to final resolution.
Interact extensively with various parties involved in the claim process.
Develop settlement/litigation/defense strategy by evaluating factual information to settle claims in a cost-effective manner, working with defense attorneys as necessary.
Handle claims consistent with client and company policies and procedures and also in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.
Document and communicate all claim activity timely and effectively and in a manner which supports the outcome of the claim file in an accurate and timely manner in accord with established procedures
Utilize a system diary system effectively and appropriately and keep the diary current.
Create, edit and/or revise correspondence to all parties as necessary.
Identify and notify responsible third parties of their potential exposures, handling subrogation on liability and Workers’ Compensation claims.
Examine and address reserves for accuracy.
Attend mediations, arbitrations or trials as needed.
Properly handle status reports/claim reviews with clients; travel as required.
Maintain current knowledge of law and statute, maintain CEUs and license in current status related to state in which handling claims.

Skills, knowledge & expertise
A minimum of three years handling all aspects of liability claims and subrogation with a consistent high level of performance and achievement.
Active Florida Adjuster license (5-20 or 6-20) and/or as required by any other state in which handling claims.
Candidate needs to reside in Central Florida
Complex and professional liability claims experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.
Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of claims, including the ability to interpret related documentation. Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related claims and business software.
Must be able to effectively handle mediations, claim reviews, status meetings with clients on a regular basis.
Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
Good communication skills, both oral and written; good customer service skills.
Assertive self-starter with excellent organizational skills. Fast and accurate. Team player. Good attendance.
