Job description

Location: Richmond, VA
Position Type: Remote
Contract Length: 7 months + possible extension

Position Overview:

Seeking an Azure Senior Security Engineer (Cybersecurity Engineer) with minimum 5 years’ experience to work with an existing software development team. 

Duties:
  • Collaborate with experienced contractors and staff to support and enhance web and Windows applications used by internal staff and external constituents

  • Apply expertise in IT security and cloud security to ensure application and infrastructure integrity

  • Operate within an Agile/Scrum development environment, working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements

  • Stay informed on evolving security threats and proactively contribute to risk mitigation strategies


Required Skills:
  • 5 years of experience in IT security or cloud security roles

  • 5 years of experience with Azure Security Services (e.g., Azure Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Key Vault, Azure Policy and Blueprints, Azure Security Center)

  • 5 years of experience with Azure Active Directory (AAD), including conditional access, MFA, and identity protection

  • 5 years of extensive knowledge in Privileged Identity Management (PIM) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

  • 5 years of experience with network security tools such as NSGs, ASGs, VPN, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity security

  • 5 years of experience implementing and monitoring compliance with regulatory standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR

  • 5 years of experience in threat modeling and vulnerability management, SIEM/SOAR tuning and response workflows, and security alert triage and forensics

  • 5 years of experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform

  • 5 years of experience integrating security with CI/CD pipelines for secure deployments using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps

  • 5 years of experience creating and delivering security architecture reports and documentation

  • 5 years of experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies

  • 3 years of hands-on experience securing Azure environments

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Preferred Skills:

  • 5 years of experience holding relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate (SC-300), CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM
