Job description

This is a full-time position located from a remote office anywhere in the country with a requirement of up to 25% national travel in accordance with public health guidelines.

Reporting to the Associate Director of R&D Learning, the Measurement and Data Collection Lead at Instruction Partners plays a crucial role in advancing our mission to improve educational experiences and outcomes by leading the development, implementation, and interpretation of measurement tools and data collection systems. This position works as part of our Research and Development Learning System to ensure that we have valid, reliable data to drive learning and evaluate impact.

 

Responsibilities:

Measurement Tool Selection, Design and Implementation

  • Recommend measurement tools: Conduct searches to identify and evaluate existing measures of constructs in our instructional leadership framework and theory of change.
  • Measure development: Partner with content experts to design high-quality measurement tools, including surveys, rubrics, interview and focus group protocols, and other instruments tailored to collect information about  instructional leadership, professional learning, classroom instruction, and student experience.
  • Design data collection systems: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish and implement processes for collecting valid, reliable data. This may include observation and scoring protocols, and survey deployment strategies. 

Psychometric Analysis and Validation

  • Psychometric Analysis: Conduct psychometric analyses (e.g., reliability testing, factor analysis, Rasch analysis).
  • Tool Refinement & Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and refine measurement tools and methodologies based on feedback, ongoing psychometric analysis, and evolving educational goals.

Data Quality and Integrity

  • Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data collected through developed tools, and troubleshoot any issues with tool performance or data validity.
  • Ethical Data Handling: Ensure that all data collection processes comply with ethical standards and privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA), maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive educational data.

Stakeholder Engagement & Support

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project leaders across the organization to understand their measurement needs, ensuring that tools are both practical and impactful in improving practices.

Ad Hoc Support

  • Across Research and Development (R&D) projects, assist with day to day requests, analysis, and thought-partnership

Candidate Qualifications and Traits:

  • At least 5 years of experience with the following:
    • Designing surveys, rubrics, and other measurement tools for educational settings.
    • Applying statistical methods for psychometric analysis, such as item response theory (IRT), classical test theory (CTT), and factor analysis.
    • Analyzing complex educational data, assess the effectiveness of measurement tools, and apply psychometric techniques to improve tool performance.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for presenting findings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating clear, accessible reports and presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of equitable measurement practices and a commitment to designing inclusive measurement systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and execute plans while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience with qualitative analysis and mixed-methods research approaches.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools (e.g., R, SPSS, STATA, Facets/Winsteps).

Compensation:
