THE ROLE

Thrive Market is looking for a highly motivated and energetic Senior Accountant to join our team. The candidate is responsible for maintaining timely, accurate financial records and performing other day-to-day activities and ad hoc projects on the accounting team. The position will assume ownership of a wide range of account reconciliations, financial closing activities, and other projects to support our financial close process. The candidate for the Senior Accountant position must have an advanced understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow) and how they relate to one another. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls. This role will report to our Associate Director of Accounting and work closely with other senior accountants on the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for monthly financial closing activities, procedures, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Perform certain procedures on a weekly basis to reconcile eCommerce activities
  • Support of annual audit process
  • Be the lead accountant responsible for cash, debt, accruals, and other Accounting tasks
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
  • Help implement internal controls through policies and procedures
  • Create best practice procedures for accounting activities and recommend process improvements where they already exist

  • QUALIFICIATIONS
  • 2+ years relevant accounting experience, Big 4 experience preferred
  • Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • CPA or progress towards obtaining license preferred
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLookUp’s, Sumifs, etc
  • Analytical mindset & ability to work with large sets of data
  • Ability to work under pressure, often in a deadline-driven environment, and ability to perform several tasks concurrently
  • Must possess excellent critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and superior attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
  • Prior experience in e-commerce or CPG is a plus
