Contract TypeScript/React/Postgres Engineer

Planet Argon provides dependable support and maintenance of existing legacy applications for a variety of clients in different industries. We take care of feature updates, bug fixes, and performance improvements.

What We Need

We are currently looking for an experienced TypeScript/React/Postgres Engineer that can provide 25-30 hours per week of support for a high-profile client in the sports retail industry.  

The initial engagement is a two-month contract for 25-30 hours per week. If both parties are interested in continuing after this period, the contract will be extended for an additional 9 to 12 months with a similar weekly hour commitment.

The Project Timeline

We hope to select this contractor by May 30th, 2025. The following is a rough timeline of the rest of the project engagement:

• June 2 - 6: Project onboarding (~20 hours/week)
• June 9 - August 1: Project contribution (~30 hours/week)
• August 4: Contract reevaluation and renewal

Requirements

As our Contract TypeScript/React/Postgres Engineer, you will work through our client’s backlog of bugs, feature requests, and technical debt.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Update or add functionality to their TypeScript application
• Use Apollo Client, GraphQL, and Postgres to interact with the APIs and database powering their application
• Estimate and execute software upgrades when needed
• Implement front-end performance improvements intended to increase the speed and user experience of the site
• Resolve bugs as they come in from the client
• Work the Project Manager and Site Reliability Engineer to resolve outages, security issues, and other incidents in a timely manner

Our ideal candidate will be fluent in English and have 5+ years experience and senior-level understanding of most of the following (items in bold are required for the position):

• TypeScript
• React
• Next.js
• Emotion CSS
• GraphQL
• Apollo Client
• Postgres
• Redis
• Google Analytics

Availability and Location

The ideal contractor is comfortable working remotely within 1-2 hours of EST timezone. South and Latin American contractors are highly encouraged to apply.

This is a remote, short-term contract position. The ideal candidate will be available for periodic meetings during EST business hours.

Benefits

Our ideal contractor has an hourly rate of $60.00 - $80.00 USD.

We address monthly or bi-weekly invoices within 10 business days.
