Job Description

We are seeking a Storage Engineer Expert to lead the management, optimization, and security of our enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. You will ensure high availability, compliance, and performance across our storage environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors. This role combines hands-on technical work with project leadership and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Storage & Backup Operations
  • Monitor performance, capacity, and availability of NAS/SAN/backup systems, proactively resolving issues.
  • Upgrade firmware/code on storage arrays and SAN switches, coordinating with vendors.
  • Provision storage for servers/virtualization teams, managing quotas and optimizing resource usage.
  • Manage backup storage capacity, collaborating with DBAs and application teams.
  • Complete daily checklists (during on-call weeks) and audit requests (security, compliance).
2. Security & Compliance
  • Review storage vulnerabilities, remediate with vendors, and maintain compliance.
  • Represent Storage in DR planning/testing, ensuring RTO/RPO adherence.
  • Update policies/SOPs annually and enforce security best practices.
3. Projects & Collaboration
  • Lead storage projects: Implementations, migrations, cloud integration, automation.
  • Troubleshoot issues with vendors/internal teams, prioritizing incidents/tasks.
  • Represent Storage in cross-functional meetings (projects, vendors, audits).
4. Team & Process Improvement
  • Rotate on-call duties and participate in daily team scrums.
  • Automate tasks: Monitoring, reporting, alerting, and provisioning.
  • Mentor team members, conduct knowledge transfers, and complete professional development goals.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years in enterprise storage/backup management with expertise in:
    • NAS: Dell Isilon/PowerScale, NetApp (AFF, FAS), cloud object storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob, Dell ECS, Scality).
    • SAN: Cisco MDS, Dell PowerMax, Pure Storage FlashArray.
    • Backup: Rubrik (CDM, RSC), Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, Dell PoweProtect Data Domain.
    • Operating Systems: Linux, Windows.
    • Virtualization Platforms: VMware, Nutanix AHV.
  • Security/Compliance: Vulnerability remediation, audit support (HIPAA/GDPR/PCI/SOX), DR testing.
  • Automation: Scripting (Shell, Perl, Python) for storage orchestration and reporting.

Compensation

Base compensation offered for this role is $104,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

*** Total compensation for this role is comprised of several factors, including the base compensation outlined above, plus incentive pay (i.e., commission, bonus, etc.) as applicable for the role.
