Job description

Employee Benefit News (EBN), a leading source of insight for HR and benefits professionals, is seeking a savvy, B2B-focused Reporter to join our Benefits Group.

This role is ideal for a journalist who thrives at the intersection of workplace strategy, employee well-being, and business impact — and who understands how to create value-driven content for Benefit Managers and related decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create Role-Relevant Content: Research, report, and write high-impact news and feature articles that address the strategic challenges and day-to-day concerns of Benefit Managers — including healthcare costs, wellness programs, compliance, DEI, and workforce engagement.
  • Persona-Led Editorial Strategy: Tailor storytelling to resonate with core B2B personas (e.g., Benefit Managers, HR Directors, CFOs), aligning with their needs across the buyer journey — from awareness to decision-making.
  • Newsletter Development: Curate and produce targeted newsletters that deliver timely insights to Benefits Managers, helping them stay ahead of trends and regulatory shifts.
  • Digital Presence & Homepage Management: Keep the EBN homepage fresh and relevant by publishing timely content and headlines geared toward professional readers in HR and benefits leadership roles.
  • Industry Beat Coverage: Own specific beats within the benefits ecosystem — such as mental health, voluntary benefits, or retirement — and develop a strong voice within those domains.
  • Audience Engagement: Contribute to EBN’s social media strategy and collaborate with marketing to optimize content distribution across channels.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate a network of expert sources, industry analysts, benefits vendors, and Benefits Managers to enrich reporting and deepen audience trust.

Special Projects/Assignments:

  • Support Web Seminars and Digital Events: Serve as a backup to the editor for producing and moderating EBN web seminars. Help shape editorial direction by ensuring webinar topics align with the strategic priorities of Benefit Managers — such as cost-containment strategies, innovative plan design, DEI in benefits, or vendor selection best practices.
  • Engage with Solution Providers and Vendors: Participate in vendor meetings to stay current on product innovations, market trends, and competitive differentiators within the employee benefits space. Use these insights to inform reporting that helps Benefits Managers evaluate solutions and navigate the complex benefits ecosystem.
  • Represent EBN at Industry Conferences: Attend Arizent-hosted and external industry events to gather expert perspectives, conduct interviews, and report on thought leadership relevant to Benefits Managers. Your coverage should capture actionable takeaways and forward-looking trends that help our audience stay ahead of regulatory, economic, and workforce challenges.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in business journalism or B2B media, ideally with a focus on HR, healthcare, insurance, or workplace strategy.
  • Strong understanding of the B2B industry, with experience producing content tailored to decision-makers like Benefits Managers.
  • Comfortable analyzing industry data, regulations, and vendor strategies to distill actionable insights.
  • Excellent writing, interviewing, and editorial judgment skills.
