THE OPPORTUNITY
As Director, Marketing Operations, you are responsible for managing the marketing automation tech stack, which includes Salesforce, Pardot, DemandBase, Tableau, and Salesloft. You will work with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales Ops, BDRs, SEs, Customer Success, and Finance, to ensure that the CMS data hygiene, marketing campaign attribution, and accurate reporting dashboards are all top-notch. One of your key roles is developing, measuring, and reporting on actionable KPIs for the marketing department, executive leadership, and the Board. As a technical leader with excellent communication skills, you will easily guide the team towards a common vision of shared deliverables

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Defining, implementing, and continuously improving the lead-to opportunity process and the marketing-to-sales handover. 
  • Track and report on the entire marketing funnel, including volume, velocity, conversion stage-to-stage, and quality indicators. 
  • Ensure that funnel measures can be analyzed by key dimensions such as industry, geo, persona, channel, and campaign ROI. 
  • Provide insights and actions that are included in executive and board-level reporting. 
  • Establish best practices to better understand marketing campaign attribution and give clear direction to Salesforce admins when system enhancements are needed. 
  • Collaborate with marketing on email workflows, including outbound sequences, newsletter workflows, nurture email series, and reactivation sequences. 
  • Managing the marketing tech stack, optimizing the lead lifecycle and all related processes, enabling all users of these technologies, and reporting on global marketing activities.
  • Own our marketing automation platform, Pardot, including platform administration, operational programs, database health, and integrations, especially with Salesforce.
  • Manage data clean-up and augmentation efforts to ensure campaign effectiveness and accurate business metrics.
  • Enable data-driven decisions based on marketing and company KPIs.
  • Plan demand generation and nurture campaigns in Demandbase – our ABM platform with the goal of enabling the Business Development team with both cross-sell and new logo opportunities.
  • Create bottom-funnel dashboards and analytics from the CRM (campaign ROI, MCL & MQL conversion, costs, etc).
  • Manage digital alignment with Biz Dev (including managing the Biz Dev campaign calendar), and increase the effectiveness of their outbound strategy.
  • Quarterback the Business Development / Sales cross-functional alignment and tracking for campaigns like Cross-sell, Rearview mailer, etc. 
  • Work with legal to ensure communications compliance (e.g. GDPR, CCPA).

Technology Expertise:

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage the MarTech systems and integrations with related technologies required to launch and run campaigns. 
  • Optimize and audit existing systems. 
  • Design the strategy for new products and solutions. 
  • Manage technology vendors. 

Data optimization and governance knowledge 

  • Ensure the right tools are in place for collecting marketing data and integrating with other systems such as a CRM. 
  • Manage data cleansing and research new ways to enrich the data. 
  • Ensure business meets best practices for marketing and data privacy. 

Analytics and reporting experience 

  • Manage analytics, reporting, and team dashboards to measure the effectiveness of the marketing channels. 
  • Provide insights to stakeholders in the business. 
  • Analyze social media performance. 
  • Provides senior marketing operations managers and the Chief Marketing Officer with ongoing analysis reports for marketing investments, actively monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the status of marketing initiatives, program ROI, consumer acquisition, consumer retention, and activity.  
  • Prepare and present key marketing KPI insights and data on relevant marketing operations to executive marketing personnel. 

Process optimization experience 

  • Review and update existing processes. 
  • Design and create new operating processes. 
  • Define the marketing objectives for each campaign. 
  • Advise campaign managers on builds, segmentation, and personas. 
  • Ensure campaigns follow standard processes and meet quality standards. 

 Project management skills 

  • Proven experience managing the marketing budget 
  • Manage spend vs. budget reporting for projects, including ROI reporting on activities. 
  • Identify compliance risks. 
  • Proven experience implementing a marketing strategy and define KPIs. 

Leadership and training skills development 

  • Help the marketing organization improve its marketing practices and adopt new solutions. 
  • Educate the marketing team on technology processes and best practices. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Marketing Operations Manager  
  • Have expertise in lead scoring, ROI, leading volume trends, forecasting, and SaaS experience. 
  • Proven experience with reporting and analytics 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
