The Role

Lumen is looking for a Principal Solution Architect who will be a technical leader driving strategic architecture and solution development for Media & Entertainment, including broadcast, content production and studio ecosystem modernization. The role blends technical networking and infrastructure expertise, with M&E technical expertise and vision. The individual will cross collaborate with product and sales to deliver reference architectures and designs tying together Lumen’s product portfolio with partner solutions, aiding the segment in delivering net new offerings for Vyvx and Lumen.

The Main Responsibilities
  •       Design optimized cloud networking solutions incorporating Lumen's full product suite, particularly Vyvx, Lumen edge, Network as a Service (NaaS), and storage.
  •       Cross-collaborate with internal product teams, sales, partners and third-party vendors to shape solutions for broadcast, content production, and studio ecosystem customers.
  •       Architect hybrid cloud and multi-cloud networking solutions, integrating on-premises and cloud environments securely and efficiently.
  •       Design hybrid/on-prem-cloud architectures to modernize traditional broadcast & post-production facilities and workflows.
  •       Stay ahead of industry trends by evaluating and implementing new network technologies, industry workflow and cloud advancements.
  •       Assist in translating technical architecture into business value.
  •       Lead technical customer and partner workshops, and internal design reviews.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  •       10+ years in network engineering with emphasis on cloud networking (AWS preferred).
  •       10+ years in M&E, ideally in broadcast and/or post-production.
  •       Expertise in low-latency, high-bandwidth media networks, and in BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN, SD-WAN, multicast/unicast.
  •       Experience with live video networks over IP, fiber, or satellite; familiar with ST 2110, SDI, HLS, and encoding workflows.
  •       Knowledge of Vyvx or similar transport services, including SLAs and redundancy for live/events.
  •       Experience with IaC practices using Terraform, Linux, containerized environments, and observability tools like Grafana.
  •       Understanding of TSN and PTP for sync in live/studio environments.
  •       Experience with AWS Media Services, IAM, VPC security, and cost-aware architecture.
  •       Experience with Citrix, VMware, Avid NEXIS, VDI, and cloud-based editorial/VFX setups.
  •       Understanding of rendering and post-production needs, and tools like Nuke, Houdini, and DaVinci.
  •       Familiarity with live cloud, private 5G, edge, CDN.
  •       Ability to align infrastructure with business goals and communicate across technical and creative teams.
Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

 

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$149,084 - $198,779 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$156,539 - $208,718 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$163,993 - $218,657 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
