The Director of Strategic Pricing is a vital leadership role that is responsible for developing and executing OptiFreight Logistics pricing strategies to optimize near-term performance while driving long-term growth. They are responsible for ensuring pricing aligns with market value, customer segmentation, competitive dynamics as well as making improvements to existing pricing models, processes, tools; and lead, motivate, and develop the members of the pricing team. This is a highly collaborative role that interfaces heavily with internal team members.

This position reports directly into the SVP/GM, OptiFreight Logistics.

Responsibilities:

Pricing Strategy Development & Execution:

  • Lead the development and implementation of pricing strategies for new and existing products, ensuring alignment with business goals and market trends.
  • Anticipate future pricing challenges and proactively adjust frameworks.
  • Advocate for pricing discipline and support governance with clarity and consistency.
  • Build trusted relationships across commercial and product teams to drive pricing excellence.

Pricing Architecture & Model:

  • Design and maintain the company's end-to-end pricing architecture to ensure consistent structure, governance, and adherence across product lines.
  • Implement and enforce pricing and discounting guidelines to preserve pricing integrity and strategic business objectives.
  • Define the optimal pricing architecture and pricing model(s) that best position the company in response to market and competitive dynamics.

Pricing Performance Assessment & Optimization:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of pricing dashboards to track pricing performance across regions and segments.
  • Conduct regular reviews of pricing performance and lead performance discussions with leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead strategy for bi-annual pricing optimization to ensure continued alignment with evolving market conditions, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics.

Product Pricing Lifecycle Management:

  • Develop and implement pricing methodologies for new product introductions, ensuring optimal market penetration and revenue generation.
  • Manage the pricing lifecycle of existing products, including price adjustments, promotions, and discontinuations.

Data-Driven Analysis & Insights:

  • Leverage data analytics, AI, and machine learning tools to drive pricing strategy insights.
  • Analyze client data, market conditions, and customer behavior to inform pricing decisions.
  • Build and interpret financial models to assess the impact of pricing changes on profitability and performance.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner closely with Product Marketing, Sales, Sales Enablement, Finance, and Analytics to ensure product pricing aligns with market value, customer segments, and competitive dynamics.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the organization to educate them on pricing optimization and ensure alignment with pricing strategies.
  • Present complex pricing strategies, recommendations, and insights in a clear and actionable way to stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Oversee and lead a team of analysts and policy managers, guiding them in executing data-driven pricing strategies.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring, as well as business and personal development to direct and indirect staff.
  • Lead broader staffing and organizational structure decisions, including employee hiring, training, and development.

             

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in product management, strategic finance, and strategic pricing roles preferred.
  • Experience with pricing software and tools.
  • Experience in leading high performing teams.
  • Certification in pricing or a related field a plus.
  • Experience managing and delivering multiple projects to deadline and budget simultaneously.
  • Data-driven mentality with a focus on analyzing and synthesizing financial, usage, and/or research data to understand market trends and product performance.
  • Experience working with Engineers & Product management to make product decisions on behalf of internal & external customers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work remotely from home/field requires a dedicated, quiet, private, distraction free environment with access to high-speed internet. We will provide you with the computer, technology and equipment needed to successfully perform your job. You will be responsible for providing high-speed internet.

Anticipated base salary range: $114,700 - $185,000

* The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
