The California Department of Justice is hiring an experienced Criminal Prosecutions Attorney.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join a multidisciplinary team of attorneys, special agents, and auditors working together to prosecute healthcare fraud and those who abuse or neglect elderly and dependent adults in California.
The Attorney General’s Office, Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA) works to investigate and prosecute fraud against the Medi-Cal program and abuse and neglect of elderly and dependent adults. Within DMFEA, the Criminal Prosecutions team handles complex criminal cases in state courts involving (1) fraud committed against the Medi-Cal program by doctors, pharmacies, medical equipment suppliers, and other Medi-Cal providers, and (2) criminal abuse and neglect of elders and dependent adults in skilled nursing and other residential care facilities.
DMFEA is a vertical prosecution unit, where prosecutors work closely with in-house special agents and investigative auditors. Prosecutors participate in DMFEA’s investigation, determine what charges to bring, and are responsible for the criminal prosecution from filing through conviction and sentencing.
Typical duties of the Criminal Prosecutions Team Deputy Attorney General include:
This position will be responsible for cases in Southern California and may require travel. Applicants must demonstrate good judgment and professionalism in all interactions with members of the public, colleagues, opposing counsel, and the judiciary. Criminal trial experience is preferred.
