If you think you would be the right person to join our team working towards this goal, we would love to hear from you!

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and mission-driven Engineering Manager to lead our BRAIN (!) Team in AI Engineering. This team is responsible for building innovative AI capabilities that help investigators find critical evidence quickly. In collaboration with our AI Research team, this team develops and deploys those capabilities and works with other Engineering teams to build high-impact AI solutions that empower digital forensic investigators.

NOTE: This candidate must reside in Canada.

What You’ll Do:
  • Drive operational excellence: Establish frameworks for efficient, high-quality software delivery, fostering autonomy while maintaining technical excellence;
  • Guide technical execution: Support the team in navigating critical technical decisions and trade-offs, working with our Tech Leads to ensure systems align with our long-term goals;
  • Create a culture of experimentation: Foster an environment where the team can safely test ideas, measure results, and continuously learn;
  • Grow and coach engineers: Actively support engineer development through clear, actionable feedback, tailored coaching, and by creating opportunities to take ownership and expand their impact;
  • Build adaptable systems: Advocate for adaptable, flexible solutions that can keep pace with evolving AI technologies, delivering immediate impact and value for our users;
  • Lead with context and collaboration: Collaborate early and often with partners in AI Research, Product, and UX to ensure the team is solving the right problems. Work together to build a roadmap is grounded in real user needs, aligned with business objectives, and sets us up for continued success.

  • Why You’ll Love This Role:
  • As an Engineering Manager, you will take a hands-on role in your first few months – working alongside the team to ship code, understand how decisions are made, observe how work flows through the team, and see how they collaborate across Engineering;
  • By the end of your first three months, you’ll transition into a full leadership role: shaping and evolving the operating frameworks that enable the team to execute effectively, coaching engineers through their growth and development, and partnering with Product and UX to ensure the team has the context and clarity needed to solve the right problems and build high-impact solutions.

  • What We’re Looking For:
  • 3+ years’ experience in software engineering and engineering leadership, with a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions, building strong teams, and guiding critical technical decisions (regardless of title);
  • A strong coaching mindset. You care deeply about helping engineers grow, providing direct and constructive feedback, and supporting their career development;
  • Sound technical judgment. You can navigate complex decisions, weight trade-offs, and guide teams toward scalable, maintainable, and adaptable solutions;
  • Cross-functional leadership. You’ve worked closely with Product and UX to ensure engineering efforts are focused on the right problems;
  • Hands-on technical experience in areas like system architecture, API design, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD is an asset. You’re able to evaluate constraints, challenge assumptions, and ensure that technical decisions align with long-term goals. (Technologies we use and teach include C#, Python, AWS, and more.).

  • Nice To Haves:
