RIVA Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Senior Drupal Engineer to support the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) under the OCIO’s Collaborative Services Division (CSD). This individual will serve as a key technical expert in the modernization and ongoing support of USPTO's federal public websites and infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Drupal engineering, AWS support, and complex automation.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide expert-level technical support for large-scale, high-traffic federal websites including USPTO.gov.
  • Lead engineering support for platforms handling 10 million+ page views monthly, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Manage and troubleshoot environments built on Drupal 10+ and Drupal OpenPublic (7+), delivering enhancements, upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Execute complex automation enhancements and bug fixes using AWS Lambda, Terraform, JSON/YAML, CloudFormation, Jenkins, and Canary Pipelines.
  • Perform infrastructure-as-code development and manage CI/CD pipelines with GitLab/GitHub and CloudBees.
  • Support cloud operations (AWS) and implement system monitoring, configuration, and optimization strategies.
  • Lead training and mentoring activities for technical staff, end users, and content owners on Drupal and related toolsets.
  • Utilize scripting skills in Python, Unix Shell, Linux Shell, Node.js, and React to enhance and streamline front-end and backend operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Section 508, FISMA, and FedRAMP guidelines across all development and support activities.
  • Provide reporting and analytics via Google Analytics and visualization tools like D3.
  • Collaborate with design and UX teams using Adobe CC, AxureRP, and USWDS HTML5/CSS3 standards.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15+ years of technical experience supporting large-scale federal public websites of similar size and complexity.
  • At least 5+ years leading engineering efforts for federal websites with over 10 million monthly page views.
  • Deep experience with Drupal 7+ and 10+, PHP, Perl, CGI, Dreamweaver, and related CMS technologies.
  • Strong technical proficiency in AWS operations, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab, Rally, ServiceNow, Apache, Windows, and UI-Path.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering web accessibility and usability solutions in accordance with federal mandates.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting Department of Commerce or USPTO initiatives.
  • Hands-on expertise with visualization and design tools such as D3, AxureRP, and GovDelivery.
  • Background in enterprise DevOps environments with Canary Pipelines and CI/CD automation.
