The College for Financial Planning, a Kaplan Company, invites applications for a professor at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank who will serve as the founding Department Chair of the newly established Department of Undergraduate Studies. Initially, this position involves establishing a new undergraduate Certificate in Finance and the Social Sciences. The College seeks a candidate to serve as a generalist in the field of social and behavioral sciences. Areas of specialization might include: Psychology , Sociology , and Economics.

Primary/Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide leadership for the newly established Department of Undergraduate Studies, including the recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and evaluation of new and part-time faculty.
  • Lead the design and development of curriculum and content for new undergraduate certificates and micro credentials, delivered in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.
  • Serve as the lead instructor for undergraduate courses and programs, ensuring high standards of quality, academic integrity, student engagement, relevance, and accuracy to support student success.
  • Research and contribute to the development of effective advising and student success models tailored to undergraduate learners.
  • Manage and support a designated caseload of undergraduate student advisees.
  • Engage in research and scholarship related to higher education, with a focus on adult learning, stackable credentials, undergraduate certificates, credit for prior learning, and evolving trends in the field—sharing insights to inform program
  • development.
  • Develop and support strategic initiatives, including articulation agreements and
  • partnerships, to facilitate clear, accessible, and impactful undergraduate learning
  • pathways.
  • Being available and have computer access during standard business hours

Minimum Qualifications

  • A terminal degree with 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant discipline in social and behavioral sciences
  • 5+ years’ experience in a faculty role, with prior experience in academic administration, advising, and curriculum development
  • Exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, Adobe and learning management systems 
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, self-starter with high energy and diligent work ethic, ability to meet tight deadlines, extremely high reasoning ability, ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Solid understanding of the higher education landscape, particularly in terms of stackable undergraduate pathways, credit for prior learning, adult learning, and micro-credentials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • An educational background that includes finance or financial planning

The salary range of this position is $70,000 - $90,000. Actual compensation for this role is determined by several factors including but not limited to job level, candidate's skills, experience, and education, among other factors determined by the business.
