In This Role You Will
  • Assess mortgage loan applications for eligibility and risk, with attention to creditworthiness, income stability, and property valuation
  • Review and analyze financial documents such as tax returns, bank statements, appraisals, and credit reports
  • Make timely, informed underwriting decisions using agency, Non-QM, and company-specific guidelines
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with loan officers, processors, and other team members to gather supporting information
  • Stay current with industry regulations and market trends
  • Make high-stakes credit decisions that directly influence company risk and borrower experience
  • Mentor and support other underwriters, contributing to a strong team culture
  • Maintain thorough documentation and clear communication around underwriting decisions

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of relevant mortgage underwriting experience
  • At least 7 years as a Mortgage Underwriter with demonstrated expertise in both Agency and Non-QM loans
  • Deep understanding of mortgage lending regulations, risk assessment, and compliance
  • Proficient in analyzing complex financial documents and making sound credit decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance
  • Comfortable using industry-specific underwriting platforms and tools
