RII is seeking a Lead Tactical Radio Engineer who possesses both operational and spectrum management experience. We are looking for a highly qualified individual with extensive knowledge of Army and/or military Tactical Radio systems, ideally with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with the systems outlined below, or comparable technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical knowledge of commercial networking and a solid background in utilizing tactical radios within an Army operational environment. This position will involve collaborating with software product teams to develop capabilities to plan, manage, monitor, configure, and initialize tactical radios as well as commercial network equipment, applications, and systems all in support of the Army’s Unified Network. Additionally, this role will require occasional travel to military installations for exercises and other events, allowing for direct engagement with the Warfighter in designing and deploying customized software solutions that enhance the operations process. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are crucial for Tactical Radio Lead role. You will work directly with the Warfighter to identify their challenges and requirements, collaborate with developers and engineers to create use cases and designs, and actively solicit feedback to ensure the delivery of high-quality software and feature development.
This position requires a secret clearance.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGDeliver subject matter expertise on US Army Tactical Radio networks and RF network technologies spanning from Division down to Battalion, Company and the tactical edge. This role will emphasize radios used for voice and data transport, including RF network spectrum operations and communications.Offer operational and user-focused insights on the deployment and utilization of tactical radios and networks at each respective echelonsFamiliar with some or all of the following communications capabilities:
Line Of Sight (LoS) radios and systems: TRILOS, Silvus / MIMO, TSM, SINCGARS, TRIK BoxBeyond Line Of (LoS) satellite systems: Starlink, Commercial and Military Satellites, SNN, Scout, MUOSGain a comprehensive understanding of the key user roles, functions, processes and organizational structures of the Army to include staff functions and the military planning processes related to how units utilizing the network to support their operational objectivesCollaborate with user organizations and operational units to develop, test, and formalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). These efforts will empower users to effectively leverage the systems and solutions at their disposalSupport the installation, configuration, and management of tactical communications systems both within RII’s labs and in direct support of operational Army units.Support Software Product Design
Gather user stories and customer use cases while drafting design artifacts that reflect complex customer/user environments and scenariosIdentify new system functionality, validate existing operational use cases and uncover additional opportunities for enhancementEffectively translate and communicate relevant complex operational/domain information both within team and across cross-functionally groups, such as engineering teamsSupport Software Installation and Test
Identify unit specific data sources and support the integration of data sources and systemsEvaluate operational challenges encountered by users, document findings, provide feedback, and update the system and supporting Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) as neededEnhance Unit DevOps execution processes and operational support activitiesDevelop training materials and provide = user training support. Provide support for operational exercises that reinforce customer training and proficiency in current or developing TTPsParticipate in working groups, forums, and analytical activities to support larger business line or program objectivesCreate and deliver clear and compelling high-quality briefings, documents, conceptual and analytical reports to customers, and larger project teamsWHAT YOU HAVE DONEDemonstrate strong communication skills to effectively engage with military officials, managers, and subordinatesHands-on experience in operating, configuring, and managing RF communications systems mentioned aboveServed in a signal and technical position at a Division G6, Brigade S6, or NetOps environment Posses robust planning, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and leadership skillsProven experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting facts using the appropriate data collection and dissemination tools/techniquesProficient in utilizing Microsoft productivity software and applicationsComprehensive knowledge of relevant complex operational mission areasAbility to work independently with limited oversight and function effectively as part of a geographically dispersed teamEVEN BETTERProficient in supporting installation, configuration, and management of tactical communications systems such as the Tactical Radio Integration Kit, Mobile Broadband Kit, Vehicle Broadband Kit, etc.Familiarity with the Army’s RAP-TR applications and their functionalitiesKnowledge of RoIP Gateways and how to setup / configure common solutions in use by the US Army (Redcom, WAVE, etc.)Well-versed in Command Post capabilities to include, CPCE, MMC, Nett Warrior, and AIDP / TITAN as well as other War Fighting Function capabilitiesUnderstanding of Army Division and Brigade Combat Team(BCT) Operations Familiar with systems engineering processes for developing/documenting requirementsExperience working within an Army tactical unit in the G3/S3Ideal candidates will have experience in 25U or other 25 series positions#LI-MC1
