Job description

What you'll do: 

 

  • Provide support to the asset monetization function through the different stages of the development cycle in various energy markets throughout North America. 
  • Understand market dynamics and be able to integrate into your views on wholesale, ancillary service, and regional tariffs and prices and associated asset revenue/savings streams to support Calibrant’s project underwriting 
  • Think through and understand how to best optimize BTM and FTM distribution connected use cases. 
  • Leverage third parties to vet various market assumptions that impact revenue: includes taking an active role in challenging these third parties as to how they arrived at their conclusion. 
  • Coordinate engagements and workstreams with third parties. 
  • Play an active role in identifying material assumptions and ensuring we have a defensible view across each stage of a project in the development cycle. 
  • Work across departments within Calibrant to both involve and facilitate feedback from relevant stakeholders. 
  • Ability to model customer use cases and quantify revenue & savings potential while supporting findings and formulating views that are based on a combination of past experience, primary research, and input from vetted third parties.  
  • Utilize analytical tools, primarily excel and/or VBA to model & sensitize various revenue related assumptions. 
  • Synthesize new information and understand the implications as to how it would end up impacting our projects. 

Who you are:

  • BS in engineering, economics or related field with a passion for power systems and renewable energy or equivalent experience.  
  • Strong understanding of wholesale and retail BTM energy concepts. 
  • Can manage workstreams and ability to interact and engage with third parties for purposes of furthering our understanding of their work. 
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, develop effective solutions, and question the status quo. 
  • Collaborative and able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. 
  • A lifelong learner committed to staying ahead of the curve in the rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape. 

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of relevant experience working on behind-the-meter North American energy market concepts, projects and/or use cases. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, statistics or other related field 
  • Familiarity of renewable energy technologies and how they are monetized. 
  • Experience with understanding revenue profile of battery storage systems (BESS) and/or PV projects. 
  • Ability to use excel or other programs  
  • Working autonomously on deadline-driven projects, your strong analytical and critical thinking skills will ensure on-time delivery to stakeholders. 
  • Effectively manage multiple workstreams and third parties. 

Recommended extras 

  • Strong track records for all required items.  
  • Experience across all North American ISOs/RTOs. 
  • Programming ability in Python, R, Matlab etc.

Compensation $120,000-$135,000 base.
