The Digital Experience Engagement (DXE) organization delivers a seamless, highly personal digital-first experience – positively impacting health journeys and outcomes to build trusting, lasting relationships with all our customers, providers, and communities.  We are seeking a Staff Vice President of Information Technology to lead our Software Engineering team in an agile product-engineering environment.  DXE delivers omni-channel digital solutions for a wide range of healthcare stakeholders, supporting 1 in 15 individuals in the U.S. healthcare system. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, curious, strategic, and a strong leader and partner. 

Position Purpose: Oversee department staff including hiring, performance management and career development to ensure alignment with defined organizational goals. 

  • Lead and oversee the experience engineering department, including front engineering and cross channel data integration engineering that enable innovative omni-channel journeys at scale.

  • Set the technical vision and execution strategy, aligning closely with business and product stakeholders. 

  • Collaborate and create strong partnerships with product leaders and enterprise architects to drive alignment between technology capabilities and strategic business objectives. 

  • Develop budgets and priorities, ensuring plans and resource allocations are consistent with those budgets and priorities. 

  • Coordinate for the plans and activities of the organization with senior leaders inside and outside IT, as well as strategic suppliers. 

  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering concepts, methodologies, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC). 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, resolve conflicts, and drive decision-making in cross-functional settings. 

  • Ensure engineering excellence across your organization by setting standards for code quality, architecture, reliability, and operational efficiency. 

  • 10+ years of diverse IT experience, with a strong focus on front-end engineering. 

  • Proven experience managing staff, including hiring, training, workload management, and performance evaluation. 

  • Extensive experience with modern architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, and Headless) and API development. 

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive innovation and excellence in front-end engineering and resilient integration engineering patterns. 

  • Apply process and business expertise to impact business results.

Technologies Required

  • Front-End Frameworks: React, Angular, Vue.js 

  • Programming Languages: Nodejs, Golang, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS 

  • API Development: RESTful APIs, GraphQL, BFF Patterns, Service Virtualization techniques 

  • Asynchronous Stream Processing:   Kafka/Confluent, Kinesis 

  • Data Warehousing: Teradata, Talend, Snowflake & AWS Data Management Services. 

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS 

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience. 10+ years of diverse IT experience. Previous experience managing staff, including hiring, training, managing workload and performance.

Pay Range: $182,100.00 - $345,600.00 per year

Centene offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid, field or office work schedules.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives.
