Director, Thought Leader Liaison, Rare Disease
What you will do

In this vital role, you will be a member of the US Marketing Leadership Team and will lead the strategic direction of the Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) organization for all relevant specialties. The TLL team is a commercial, field-based, customer-facing role focused on the identification and cultivation of relationships with both leading and emerging key opinion leaders (KOLs) as well as leading the development of key customers and speakers. This position will drive alignment to the brand objectives and strategic imperatives to ensure the team delivers on key priorities in the near term and over the longer-term brand to achieve the brand strategy. This individual will make strategic commercial recommendations to optimize efforts across the team while ensuring optimal use of resources.
The TLL Director will have a national team of TLLs. This person will be responsible for leading, developing, hiring as relevant, and training this team. The TLL Director will be expected to bring insights to help shape brand strategy, anticipate market events and champion cross functional collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Develop the strategic plan for the TLL organization aligning to the overarching brand strategy
Hire, develop, train and lead a high-performing TLL team to ensure clear accountability to achieving/exceeding objectives
Develop meaningful goals, track and coach performance accordingly
Demonstrate that the TLL team has a comprehensive understanding of the disease state, competitive landscape and therapeutic management within Anca Associated Vasculitis (AAV)
Generate insights to inform short and long term brand strategy
Participate in cross-functional team meetings ensuring knowledge of key priorities and metrics to help drive brand business objectives
Partner with internal, cross-functional teams including Marketing, Medical, Sales, Patient Services, Advocacy etc in the development and execution of strategies and tactics
Understand gaps in the customer experience/journey and provide recommendations for new business initiatives, trainings or interventions necessary to address the gaps
Contribute to the development of the annual brand plan with responsibility for defining and executing key areas within the associated tactical plans
Build and maintain business relationships at the necessary levels in the organization and interact with and/or influence key cross-functional stakeholders
Help the TLL team to execute on strategic plans by ensuring the team is focused on key customers, training and developing speakers and executing on key initiatives
Identify, develop and lead opportunities for key strategic partnerships with targeted and relevant societies and conferences to support insight generation, educational outreach and collaboration
Partner with Marketing to determine what is needed to evolve and develop the Speaker Bureau across specialties
Cultivate innovation through special projects (designed in concert with TLL) to further brand objectives
Lead the TLL team to operate to the highest standards in alignment with Amgen’s code of business conduct, ensuring all interactions with KOLs are on-label and consistent with commercial, compliance, regulatory, and legal guidelines

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing and/or other commercial function experience
Or
Master’s degree and 8 years of marketing and/or other commercial function experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of marketing and/or other commercial function experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant work experience with 7+ years of commercial function experience across multiple therapeutic areas
Experience leading a national TLL team strongly preferred
Experience in ophthalmology or endocrinology strongly preferred
Relationships with ophthalmology or endocrinology opinion leaders
Biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience required
Strong leadership capabilities and track record of developing team members
Outstanding analytical and data management skills
Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the abilities to take ownership of issues, to work independently with confidence and to meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise judgment and discretion
Ability to work well with all levels of employees and demonstrate strong collaboration skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Professional, proactive demeanor
Strong interpersonal skills
Travel Requirements:
Requires approximately 40% travel, including overnight and some weekend commitments

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
