Job description

We are seeking an Accounting Manager/Controller for a full time and direct hire role for one of our amazing partners in California. This is a remote role, but you must live in PST, MT or CST time zones. You will travel to the office every couple of months.


Summary

We are looking for an Accounting Manager/Controller who can grow with our rapidly expanding company. In the short term, this role will focus heavily on managing day-to-day financial operations, including completing journal entries, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the smooth functioning of all financial processes. As the companys lead accountant, you will take ownership of these responsibilities while also helping to refine and implement systems to support our growth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in shaping the financial foundation of a fast-growing organization in the travel sector.


Job description

  • Accounting Operations Management: Lead the day-to-day accounting functions like accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger management.
  • Journal Entry Posting: Analyzing business transactions and recording appropriate journal entries in QuickBooks.
  • Account Reconciliation: Performing detailed account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Month-End Close Process: Leading the month-end closing process, including preparing adjusting entries and ensuring timely completion of financial reporting.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, highlighting key trends and variances.
  • Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
  • Internal Controls: Maintaining and improving internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP) and regulations.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, assess financial health, and provide insights to inform business decisions.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and monitor budgets, forecast future financial performance, and identify areas for cost control.


Required Skills

  • Certifications / Degree: CPA certification required and Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in QuickBooks and Microsoft excel required along with 5+ years of experience in each
  • Technical Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting standards
  • Financial Analysis Skills: Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication to clearly present financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial issues and develop solutions
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
