An opportunity has arisen for a Sustainable Supply Chain Specialist to join our expanding and exciting Contracts and Procurement team.
Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Our global Sustainable Supply Chain team supports Contracts and Procurement to establish and maintain responsible, sustainable supply chains for our operations and products, reducing emissions, promoting decent work, and driving circularity.
Line reporting to Fortescue Zero Continuous Improvement Manager and global functional reporting to Manager Sustainable Supply Chain, this role will actively contribute to Contracts and Procurement’s global integration strategy and implementation of sustainability best practice in Fortescue’s upstream
supply chain
What You Will Do
Support implementation of global sustainable supply chain governance and processes for source to contract integration at Fortescue Zero under guidance from Manager Sustainable Supply Chain, including developing appropriate tools and templates
Support enhanced due diligence of high-risk sourcing activities, including supply chain traceability and human rights risk screening
Work with Contracts and Procurement teams to deliver sustainable outcomes through strategy, contracting and supplier engagement, including provision of subject matter advice for appropriately mitigating and managing residual sustainability risks
Work with subject matter experts to deliver effective training program for capability building of sustainable supply chain topics, including human rights, traceability, greenhouse gases and circularity.
Co-design and support implementation of digital passport requirements for Fortescue’s own product supply chains
Use and manage various sustainable supply chain technologies, including screening tools and source to contract platforms. Make recommendations on innovations, technologies, and systems for improving sustainable supply chain outcomes
Support data collection and analysis for Contracts and Procurement input into external disclosures such as the Sustainability Report, Climate Transition Plan and Modern Slavery Statement
Contribute to development of global sustainable supply chain strategy and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
About You
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, legal, commerce, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field.
Strong interest in sustainability and enthusiasm for continuously building their knowledge base
A background in global supply chains, category management or procurement, any experience in renewable technology is an advantage
Strong understanding of data analysis and interpretation with ability to present findings to wide range of stakeholders
Ability to develop long term strategies and apply required change management.
Experience undertaking human rights due diligence and/or supply chain traceability methods would be beneficial
Confident working autonomously and ability to problem solve
Proven track record for delivering effective training programs for internal and external to work towards collaborative, best practice outcomes
Some knowledge of relevant legislation and international best practice including but not limited to UN Sustainable Development Goals, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, OECD Guidelines, UK Modern Slavery Act, and incoming EU Battery Regulations
Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, human rights or related fields are highly valued, but not essential
