Role
This role combines managerial responsibilities with hands-on technical contributions, making it ideal for a leader who is passionate about both driving teams and staying deeply involved in the technical aspects of software development.
The candidate must have a good level of experience of working with and overseeing the development of complex, multi-tenanted, scalable applications/microservices. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of technical expertise and leadership experience to guide our engineering teams. Great coding hygiene, solid design and architecture experience are essential.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership:Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams. Stay hands-on with coding and contribute to the development of critical components Collaborate with architects to define and maintain a scalable and robust software architecture. Drive initiatives to improve system architecture and overall engineering efficiency.
Team Management: Lead, inspire, and manage a team of skilled engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to drive professional growth. Drive the team towards meeting deadlines with precision and efficiency. Instill a culture of accountability and results-oriented focus within the engineering teams.
Project Management: In accordance with Agile/Scrum practices, oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines. Collaborate with product teams and other stakeholders to define project scopes and requirements. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance engineering effectiveness.
Software Development and Architectural Oversight: Leverage expertise in Python, AWS, ORMs and general system design to contribute to the design and development of SaaS software solutions. Ensure the implementation of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment. Collaborate with architects to define and maintain a scalable and robust software architecture. Drive initiatives to improve system architecture and overall engineering efficiency.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, other engineering teams, operations and sales Skills and experience Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role, guiding and developing high-performing engineering teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Advance skills in Python Experience of using ORM frameworks (e.g.SqlAlchemy, Django) A good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Design Commercial experience of working on enterprise level applications A proven track record overseeing the development of large/complex projects Experience of relational database management systems (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle,PostgreSQL) Strong interpersonal skills, working with internal technical staff and stakeholders Practical experience of analysing requirements Ability to quickly learn new technical skills Coaching and mentoring
