Job description

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Business Development Officer to join TR's Development team! The Business Development Officer (BDO) to identify, cultivate, and close new corporate and foundation partnership opportunities in support of TR’s financial and programmatic goals. This role is focused on securing new partnerships, with a strong emphasis on outbound prospecting and strategic opportunity development. Once a partnership is secured, the BDO will coordinate the internal hand-off to the Strategic Partnership or Institutional Giving teams for long-term stewardship and growth. This individual will be responsible for researching and building a robust pipeline of new prospects, managing outreach efforts, creating tailored partnership materials, and finalizing agreements. The Business Development Officer will also vet in-bound partnership inquiries to determine strategic fit and advance qualified opportunities. This is an opportunity to think creatively about partnership alignment across the enterprise to drive impact for the partner and the organization. This is a high-impact role for a relationship-builder with a business development mindset, capable of translating TR’s mission and capabilities into compelling value propositions for new partners.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s Vice President, Development and is based remote anywhere within the United States.

Duties:

  • Proactively source, qualify, and close new corporate and foundation partnership opportunities not currently in TR’s portfolio.
  • Research, build, and manage a pipeline of new business leads, with clear forecasting and accurate tracking of progress.
  • Qualify and vet inbound donor and partnership inquiries, assessing alignment with TR’s strategic goals, values, and operational capacity.
  • Develop customized pitch materials and proposal decks to advance new opportunities.
  • Negotiate, craft, interpret and enforce legally binding contracts with prospective and current strategic partners.
  • Ensure seamless internal handoff to Strategic Partnerships and/or Institutional Giving teams for ongoing cultivation and fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., program, finance, legal) to shape partnership opportunities that are feasible, impactful, and aligned with TR’s operational realities.
  • Stay informed on trends in corporate social responsibility and institutional philanthropy to identify whitespace opportunities and emerging sectors. Represent TR at networking events, industry forums, and professional associations to build visibility and generate new leads.

Education and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of combined fundraising and management experience
  • Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and manage corporate partnerships that drive revenue and strategic impact
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior-level corporate decision-makers
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including ability to efficiently create and manipulate Excel data
  • Experience using donor database systems (i.e. Mission CRM, Salesforce, etc.)

Special Requirements: 

  • This is a full-time; REMOTE position based anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)
  • Travel: At least 40% travel for site visits, conferences, and donor meetings

Pay Range:  

  • $80,514.72 - $137,241.00 per year
