Social Media Intern

Program Summary

We are looking for 4 social media passionates to join the social media team for a 12 week internship program! This part-time internship will provide hands-on experience in content creation, video production, and social media strategy. This is a paid internship program at $18 an hour or local minimum wage, whichever is higher in your state. Deadline to apply is Saturday May 24, 2025.

Program Objectives

  1. Skill Development: Equip interns with practical skills in content creation, video production, and social media strategy.
  2. Creative Freedom: Foster an environment that encourages creativity and innovation in producing engaging content.
  3. Mentorship: Provide ongoing mentorship to guide interns through their projects and professional development.
  4. Networking Opportunities: Facilitate connections with professionals in the marketing and beauty industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Video Content Creation: Produce 3 short video pieces per week for our social media channels, focusing on creativity, engagement, and alignment with our brand's messaging.
  • Episodic Content: Develop, execute, and iteratively improve on a long-form episodic content piece during the internship, as a part of weekly content deliverables.
  • Weekly Touch Bases: Participate in weekly 30-minute touch base meetings with supervisor to discuss progress, receive feedback, and set goals.
  • Independent Production: Be comfortable and confident in shooting and producing video content independently.
  • On-Camera Presence: Be comfortable and confident appearing on camera for live videos or other content formats.
  • TikTok Expertise: Demonstrate a deep understanding of TikTok trends, best practices, and audience preferences.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Keep abreast of the latest social media trends and industry developments.

Qualifications

  • Must be available to dedicate 8-10 hours a week over the course of the 12 week program, with a case study presentation at the end of the program
  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Film, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, especially TikTok.
  • Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Creative and innovative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for social media and the beauty industry.
  • One candidate will be hired from UConn college student body.
