We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced NX CAM Programmer / Designer with a strong background in prototype fabrication and automotive manufacturing. This role requires expertise in Unigraphics NX (UG/NX) and hands-on experience with CNC programming and machining operations. The ideal candidate will contribute to the full lifecycle of prototype and tooling development—from CAD design through CNC programming, fabrication, and assembly.
This is a hands-on, collaborative role best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well across teams, and is passionate about innovation in automotive and manufacturing technologies.
Design complex prototype parts, tools, and fixtures using Unigraphics NX (NX 9.0 or higher) and CATIA.
Generate CNC toolpaths for 3-axis, fixed 4-axis, and basic 5-axis milling operations using NX CAM.
Interpret engineering drawings and 3D models to develop parametric solid models and accurate manufacturing outputs.
Operate and troubleshoot various CNC machines including SNK, Fadal, Makino, and Haas mills/lathes.
Support the fabrication and assembly of prototype test equipment, including door latch and window regulator durability rigs.
Collaborate with engineers and machinists to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet performance requirements.
Modify existing CAD models or prototypes based on real-world test results or engineering change requests.
Participate in hands-on prototype builds, including Body-in-White (BIW) and experimental vehicle modifications.
Maintain accurate documentation for CAD designs, CNC programs, fixtures, and project workflows.
Required:
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or prototyping environment, specifically with NX CAD/CAM.
Proficient in CNC programming, setup, and operation across multiple machine platforms.
Solid understanding of manufacturing methods, tooling, and fixture design.
Demonstrated experience in prototype development, especially in automotive or related industries.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing project requirements.
Preferred:
Familiarity with hydroform tooling, kirksite die design, or check fixture fabrication.
Experience supporting functional test rigs and durability testing for automotive components.
Apprenticeship or trade background in metal model making or machining.
Knowledge of WorkNC software a plus.
