Job description

This is a remote position.

Role Name: Medical Receptionist / Front Desk Administrator

Schedule:

  • 40 hours/week, 5 days/week

  • Mon-Fri 9am-6pm Detroit time (includes 1hr unpaid break)

Client Timezone: Eastern Time Zone (Detroit, MI)


As a vital member of our front desk team, you'll serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking mental health support services. This role combines healthcare administration expertise with compassionate customer service, requiring someone who can handle sensitive interactions while maintaining efficient operations. You'll work closely with an experienced team of mental health professionals, managing critical patient communications and ensuring smooth operational flow. This position offers the unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while developing your career in healthcare administration.


Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming patient calls and communications

  • Process new patient referrals and coordinate with healthcare providers

  • Manage appointment scheduling and confirmation processes

  • Verify and process patient insurance information

  • Handle sensitive patient data entry with meticulous attention to detail

  • Coordinate with insurance companies for verification and claims processing

  • Support office workflow optimization and administrative processes

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation

  • Facilitate smooth communication between patients, providers, and staff

  • Assist with general administrative duties as needed



Requirements
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Previous experience in healthcare reception or medical office administration

  • Strong background in customer service with demonstrated professionalism

  • MUST HAVE A WINDOWS OS COMPUTER

  • Experience managing multiple phone lines and high call volumes

  • Familiarity with healthcare terminology and medical office procedures

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy

  • Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy

  • Experience with healthcare software systems and standard office applications

  • Professional demeanor and excellent phone etiquette

  • Ability to work independently while following established protocols

  • Comfortable working remotely while maintaining high productivity

  • Available during US Eastern Time Zone business hours

  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality requirements

  • Reliable internet connection and quiet home office setup
