Underwriting Supervisor

The Underwriting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the underwriting team, training and developing Underwriters, handling file escalations, and working with the management team to identify opportunities for process improvement. This position supports the necessary function of the Underwriting Department to ensure the closing of quality loans.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the underwriting team
• Manage the underwriting pipeline to ensure it is evenly distributed across the team and that files are being worked in a timely manner
• Review the procedures of the Underwriting Department to ensure they meet the guidelines of the secondary market and compliance
• Train new staff and monitor progress to help them become competent and efficient in their role
• Answer questions and develop team members according to their career goals and training needs
• Provide support to the origination team as needed and manage escalated file issues as they arise
• Collaborate with the operations management team to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiencies across departments
• Motivate team to meet or exceed monthly goals established by senior management
• Other duties as may be assigned

Requirements

• Experience with Conventional, Jumbo, and Non-QM programs
• Adaptable problem-solver
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Persistent and deadline-driven
• Motivated by a fast-paced work environment
• Effective communicator
• Able to manage multiple projects at one time
• Proven ability to mentor, coach, and train remote team members
• Computer proficiency and MLM experience preferred
