This position is for a teacher in the Extensions Program, a self-contained special education program for students with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Students focus on functional academics (reading, writing, math, social studies, science), community, self-care, and vocational skills. Students are placed due to behaviors such as aggression, property destruction, elopement, or self-injury, and require Behavior Intervention Plans, some involving restraint. Many are non-verbal and use communication systems like picture-exchange or assistive technology. Due to their needs, classes have 4–7 students, 3 paraeducators, and a special educator. Teachers are supported by a psychologist, social worker, behavior support teacher, and program specialist. MCEA 10 Month: The wage range for this position is a salary between $62,558 and $127,334 based on education & experience.
