Introduction

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) supports State and local government agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations and the citizens of Maryland, by providing facilities management, real estate and surplus property services, as well as security and law enforcement for State buildings. DGS is also responsible for a full spectrum of facilities engineering, design and construction services, almost $1 billion in annual contract administration, and overseeing the State procurement process. LOCATION OF POSITION

Baltimore City - 301 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21201

Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for collecting, organizing and analyzing data to support the Office of Facilities Management in making informed operational decisions. Developing data models and dashboards with associated reports and visualization to communicate insights. Evaluates operational efficiency and develops, revises and recommends new policies, standards, workflow procedures. in pursuit of agency goals and KPIs. Tasked with establishing and maintaining automated reporting structures following cadences as required by leadership objectives. Lead projects to identify and leverage new technology where appropriate. Support administrative workflows in maintenance and management of agency relational databases such as a Computerized Maintenance Management System and/or Learning Management System.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after 90-day evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience : Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

Strong preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s) . Include clear and specific information on your application regarding all qualifications.

  • Experience with Power BI (or equivalent) to include dashboard creation, and data visualization.
  • Experience in data querying, data manipulation and performance optimization.
  • Professional experience pulling data leveraging APIs, including their configuration and setup.
  • Familiarity with principles for design & presentation to communicate data effectively.
  • Experience working in a Computerized Maintenance Management System or industry adjacent databases.
  • Experience developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures.
  • Experience developing data models aligning with internal and external stakeholder needs.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Eligible lists may be used to fill future vacancies of the same classification.
