Job description

Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we are proud of our incredible stakeholders, and the diversity they represent from all areas and communities in which we operate and serve. We view this as a source of strength for us and your job is to help us make it even better.

Your Role:

As a Farmer Success Partner, you’ll serve as the strategic account manager for a portfolio of independent laying hen farmers - building deep relationships, designing support systems that meet them where they are, and ensuring long-term partnership success.

You’ll manage the full farmer lifecycle, from onboarding to renewal, owning key touchpoints, identifying risks, and unlocking opportunities to drive shared value. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to advocate for farmer needs, ensure operational consistency, and strengthen the long-term viability of our network.

While our Farm Support team leads day-to-day operational support, you’ll focus on the broader business health and strategic success of each farmer relationship.

What You'll Do:

Farmer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary relationship and business performance advisor for a defined portfolio of laying hen farmers, guiding them through key lifecycle milestones (e.g., onboarding, barn commissioning, contract renewal) and acting as their strategic partner on matters related to partnership health, long-term planning, and financial sustainability.
  • Build trust-based, high-touch relationships that foster mutual success and long-term alignment.
  • Deliver strategic account management: set shared goals, conduct business reviews, and proactively surface issues and opportunities.
  • Develop and execute “moments that matter” playbooks: recognizing milestones, delivering key communications, and celebrating wins.

Farmer Lifecycle & Retention Strategy

  • Lead the contract renewal process, including communications, document coordination, and alignment on future plans.
  • Identify at-risk relationships early using qualitative and quantitative inputs and activate mitigation plans.
  • Help design and improve the renewal incentive strategy in collaboration with cross-functional partners.

Financial Support & Performance Insights

  • Partner with Finance to build and maintain farmer financial models (e.g., individual farmer P&Ls) that support transparency and decision-making.
  • Evaluate and triage farmer hardship or loss support requests with a consistent, equitable framework.
  • Monitor farm-level performance and cost trends and identify structural opportunities to improve network profitability and sustainability.

Program Design & Farmer Segmentation

  • Help define and implement a farmer segmentation strategy to tailor support based on farmer lifecycle stage, performance, or needs.
  • Work with internal partners to pilot and scale new support programs: training, recognition, communication, or financial tools.
  • Identify replicable solutions to common farmer pain points, and champion scalable programmatic approaches.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the voice of the farmer in internal discussions, bringing forward insights that influence product, policy, and process.
  • Partner closely with Farm Support, Recruiting, Construction, and Procurement to ensure consistent, coordinated communication with each farm.
  • Contribute to tools, systems, and resources that elevate the farmer experience and increase internal alignment.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business, Economics, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years in customer success, franchise operations, ag business consulting, or relationship management roles preferred.
  • Familiarity with small business financials, preferably in an agriculture or franchise setting.
  • Experience building and managing high-touch customer or partner relationships, ideally in a distributed or rural context.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Outstanding communication skills - you listen with empathy and communicate with precision.
  • Strong analytical instincts - you don’t need to be a finance expert, but you’re comfortable interpreting data and turning it into decisions.
  • Deep respect for rural communities and independent farmers—and a genuine desire to see them thrive.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for on-farm relationship development and strategic visits.
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Annual bonus and equity grant (subject to business results and company approval)
  • Free eggs and butter, along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $80,000 - $95,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.
