Associate Counsel based in USA – Remote Setup

Avid Technology is seeking an Associate Counsel to join our global legal team, reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel. This role provides legal support across the full range of Avid's business activities. The position is well-suited for a proactive, business-minded attorney who can manage diverse matters with minimal oversight and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will serve as a key legal partner across commercial, corporate, compliance, and strategic matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide legal support for global commercial transactions, including customer sales, services, distribution, licensing, and procurement agreements.

  • Advise on corporate governance and manage U.S. and international subsidiaries, entity filings, and legal structures.

  • Partner with departments including HR, Finance, Treasury, and Operations to support day-to-day legal needs and company-wide initiatives.

  • Contribute to governance frameworks, compliance efforts, and policy development related to the company’s transformation under private equity ownership.

  • Support M&A activity through diligence, structuring, documentation, and post-close integration.

  • Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance, including reviewing policies and delivering internal training.

  • Oversee outside counsel handling litigation, employment, regulatory, and other matters as needed.

  • Support marketing and communications teams with review of promotional campaigns, events, and materials.

  • Participate in internal investigations, risk assessments, and other compliance-related programs.

  • May supervise or mentor other legal professionals, including paralegals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD or LLM from an accredited law school and active license to practice in at least one U.S. state.

  • 4 to 6 years of combined experience at a law firm and in-house legal department, preferably in the technology or media industries

  • Strong foundation in commercial transactions, general corporate law, and employment law

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound, practical decisions in complex situations.

  • Experience advising cross-functional teams and executive leadership.

  • Familiarity with private equity-backed operating environments is a plus.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • High degree of integrity and professional judgment

US Pay Transparency Range $150,000.00 - $180,000.00
