Position Summary:

As Manager, you will primarily function at a 50% strategic and 50% tactical level, acting as the cornerstone of our revenue cycle management (RCM). Your leadership will span across multiple managers, surgery centers and anesthesia entities, ensuring each vested party receives the appropriate level of revenue cycle support and attention. You will be responsible for leading company-wide revenue cycle improvement initiatives and will provide support and accountability to direct reports, as well as regularly report progress to senior revenue cycle leaders. If there are stakeholder RCM concerns, you are accountable for mitigating those issues by developing action plans for improved, sustained financial performance and trust. The keystone of your role will be fostering relationships & partnerships with the central billing office and surgery centers, giving life to action plans that tackle revenue cycle challenges head-on. These plans will not only confront these challenges but also pave the way for quantifiable financial benefits for the organization. In your capacity as Manager, you will be an agent of change, identifying opportunities and institutionalizing processes that enhance the overall revenue cycle process. Your stewardship will lead cross-functional team projects towards substantial improvements in the revenue cycle process, driving our organization's mission forward.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze raw data using Excel and develop pivot tables to distill insights.
  • Communicate data insights to surgery center stakeholders via PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ensure each surgery center & anesthesia entity receives a curated monthly RCM report presentation. This report will incorporate commentary elucidating revenue cycle trends specific to each surgery center.
  • Lead the creation and execution of action plans to address revenue cycle challenges, eliminate waste and improve stakeholder satisfaction at each surgery center and anesthesia entity.
  • Develop/execute action plans in coordination with central business office leadership including patient billing manager, coding Manager, AR manager (varies by center), credit balance manager, payment posting manager and verification of benefits manager.
  • Function as a revenue cycle subject matter expert and key contact for stakeholders by addressing all revenue cycle questions and concerns.
  • Coordinate with the Central Billing Office leaders, Center leaders and Manager of Operations at each surgery center to ensure successful follow-through on action plans.
  • Develop a strong understanding of revenue cycle KPIs and communicate the significance of current KPIs and pathway to achieve industry standards.
  • Ensure direct reports meet and uphold the departmental standards as established by the revenue cycle leadership in their assigned responsibilities.

 

Position Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in finance, accounting, or healthcare administration. Graduate degree preferred.
    • If an individual possesses an MS or MA Graduate Degree in a related field of study, prior experience of 6-8 years in people management and/or healthcare operations or revenue cycle is acceptable.
  • Must have 8-10 years management experience in practice administration, client services or healthcare reimbursement.
  • Previous management experience, preferably in healthcare operations, revenue cycle and/or customer service
  • Strong knowledge of rules/regulations of Medicare/Medicaid and other government payors as well as commercial insurers and specialty contracts to ensure accurate and timely billing and payment of claims.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (including advanced expertise in Excel), Tableau and Viewgol
  • Strong knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of surgery center operational and revenue cycle processes.
  • Strong knowledge of management principles.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively, (both orally and in writing) in English.
  • Convey thoughts in a well-organized, concise manner. Use appropriate grammar and punctuation in written documents.
  • Perform in a consistently organized manner with strong attention to detail.
