Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and mission-driven Organ Procurement and Transplant Surveyor to evaluate and support compliance across organ procurement organizations (OPOs) and transplant centers. This role is critical in ensuring adherence to federal regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in organ donation and transplantation. The ideal candidate will bring deep clinical and operational knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes and system performance.  Relocation is not necessary however, nationwide travel will be required.  This is a part-time/casual opportunity with a flexible work schedule.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site and virtual surveys of OPOs and transplant centers to assess compliance with CMS Conditions for Coverage, OPTN/UNOS policies, and other regulatory/accreditation standards.
  • Evaluate clinical practices, quality assurance programs, and performance metrics related to organ recovery, allocation, and transplantation.
  • Review medical records, policies, and data systems to ensure accuracy, transparency, and regulatory alignment.
  • Interview clinical staff, administrators, and leadership to assess organizational culture, patient safety, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Prepare comprehensive survey reports with findings, recommendations, and timelines for corrective action.
  • Stay current with evolving transplant and OPO regulations, technologies, and clinical innovations.

 Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Registered Nurse
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in organ procurement, transplant coordination, or transplant program administration.
    • Ability to travel nationwide is required
    • Experience completing CMS surveys is required
    • CMS Surveyor training for provider types is required
    • In-depth knowledge of CMS, UNOS, and OPTN regulations.
    • Strong communication, critical thinking, and documentation skills.
