Airfare Optimization Specialist

We are seeking an experienced International Airfare Optimization Specialist to support our client in achieving cost-effective and policy-compliant travel solutions. This role will serve as a key partner to customer compliance teams, providing strategic fare analysis, itinerary optimization, and contract validation to maximize airfare savings and overall program efficiency.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated and passionate about industry trends, technology, and driving operational efficiency. You will work closely with internal teams, key client contacts, suppliers, and leadership to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth while improving the overall customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customer’s compliance team to drive airfare optimization savings opportunities 
• Conduct comprehensive and precise airfare searches, primarily for international itineraries, applying defined criteria to ensure optimal pricing and routing
• Evaluate complex fare or unusual routing scenarios ensuring minimum disruption to traveler
• Respond to all compliance-related inquiries and fare review requests within established SLAs
• Regularly monitor PNRs to track fare fluctuations and market trends 
• Generate comprehensive monthly savings reports to demonstrate ROI
• Analyze program performance and identify opportunities for process improvements
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners 
• Support air rate loading, testing and periodic audits to ensure accuracy
• Provide knowledge to other team members on fare rules, protocols and optimization techniques
• Maintain detailed documentation of fare research methodologies and optimization strategies 
• Assist with reservations support in emergency and unplanned situations 

• 5+ years experience in International Rates and Operations, with emphasis on corporate travel
• Strong working knowledge of airline tariffs, fare rules, gateway cities, and negotiated fare and commission contracts
• Expertise in fare construction, including complex multi-leg routes, RTW fares, and international ticketing
• Mastery of at least one GDS; Amadeus experience preferred 
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and reporting
• Excellent attention to detail and process orientation
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and strategic approach
• Reporting accuracy and timeliness
• Ability to work independently while prioritizing multiple tasks and changing priorities
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills; ability to deliver clear and effective insights
• Proficiency in Google suite or Microsoft Office including Teams 
• Service-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams
• Team player with a proactive approach to collaboration and knowledge sharing
