Part-Time News Writer
About The Role:
This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with Dotdash Meredith. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes.
Dotdash Meredith is looking for a part-time news writer for Allrecipes.com. As a news writer, you will pitch, research and write 8-10 food news and trend articles per week. You will be required to build the articles in the CMS and ensure that they are accurate and optimized with catchy headlines and strong leads.
Assignment Responsibilities:
We are looking for a news writer who can commit to 25 hours of work per week (there may be the option to do more hours some weeks). The rate for this role is $25/hour.  Due to the nature of this role, which is across breaking news, we are hoping to find candidates with availability during daytime hours Monday through Friday. Applicants must live in the United States. 
Start date: ASAP
End date: 6 month assignment with potential to extend

 

Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years writing experience at an online publisher, preferably in the food space
  • CMS experience required
  • Personal interest in the food and recipes space
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-focused
  • A self-starter who can pivot seamlessly as new initiatives and directives are identified and adjusts processes accordingly
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices
  • Proficiency in project management tools like Google Sheets, Airtable, or similar
  • You’re able to easily adopt an established brand voice, and you adhere to strict brand and style guidelines like a pro
  • You are comfortable working remotely
  • You have access to a smartphone, computer (not a tablet), and a secure internet connection
  • Photoshop skills a plus
