What You Will Do:

The Credit Balance Specialist Team Lead will manage credit balance workloads and respond and follow-up on external and internal inquires in a timely manner. 

  • Be a Subject Matter Expert and remain current in all areas of designated project/client, including client host system, imaging systems, internal host systems and vendor systems.

  • Help train new employees and facilitate project specific refresher training sessions.

  • Provide continuing education for current employees.

  • Reviews work product of team members for accuracy and client policy compliance; providing training and feedback as needed.

  • Assists employees with their questions to ensure team / project performance goals are met.

  • Audits patient accounts as requested.

  • Works closely with supervisor to create applicable work lists.

  • Assists in the implementation of standards and guidelines.

  • Attends payor provider calls as needed documenting all meeting minutes.

  • Provides timely feedback to the leadership team.

  • Timely and accurately resolves credit balances.

  • Process internal and external refund requests.

  • Identify trends and escalate where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate, clear, concise and complete account notes and other relevant information.

  • Respond to requests for information and resolve accounting discrepancies.

  • Resolves unidentified payments through research.

  • Post approved adjustments and transfers as applicable.

  • Special Ad-hoc reports assigned by management.

Client Responsibility:

  • Assists leadership with coordinating client projects.

  • Research and respond to all patient inquiries received by telephone and mail.

  • Update patient demographic information and initiate account adjustments.

  • Try to resolve account balances to zero prior to accounts being forwarded to an outside agency for collections.


What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma/GED or 3 years of relevant equivalent experience in lieu of diploma/GED

  • Eight years relevant experience coming from healthcare, business and/or professional services.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Credit balance experience within a hospital and clinic background

  • PC skills in a Windows environment. Knowledge and utilization of desktop applications to include Word and Excel.

  • Ability to initiate and follow through on projects and work independently with minimal supervision.

The annual salary range for this position is $59,000.00-$98,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
